Devin’s sister speaks out after pharmacist addressed his ‘ibuprofen addiction’ in Love Is Blind
‘I’m so tired of this narrative on Devin’
Devin Buckley’s alleged “ibuprofen addiction” storyline on Love Is Blind has taken a turn after his sister shed light on the situation and how it’s NOT what it seems.
During the pods segment of the show, Devin opened up about his basketball injury in a vulnerable moment to both Virginia and Brittany who listened attentively. He didn’t repay the same kindness to Brittany’s sexuality admission but that’s something else entirely.
Essentially, Devin said that in high school he experienced a “hard fall” that resulted in serious injury to his back. Like the rest of us, he Googled how to get rid of the pain and was turned on to the miracles of ibuprofen.
But that posed its own set of risks as Devin was soon popping 20 pills a day to manage the pain. However, it’s worth noting that to my knowledge Devin never explicitly said he was “addicted.”
His vulnerable moment became a huge talking point on Reddit and Twitter, so much so that a pharmacist felt the need to respond.
Okay, so what did the pharmacist say?
Pharmacist Dr Ethan Melillo posted a video to his Facebook and Instagram last week after noticing the ibuprofen addiction arc for the second time on Love Is Blind.
“Just to clear the air, there is no data that you can become addicted to ibuprofen,” he said. “And unlike other habit-forming medications, it doesn’t affect our brain’s reward system.”
Though you can’t get addicted to the over-the-counter medication, the doctor did warn against continuous use because it can impose a few health detriments such as an increased risk of gastrointestinal bleeding, ulcers, and kidney damage.

“This is why it’s so important that if your pain is not being controlled by something that is over the counter, you need to let your doctor know,” he said.
Devin’s sister set the record straight
Jaricka Buckley, who we saw a little bit of in the show during home visits, posted a lengthy statement in the Love Is Blind Minneapolis Facebook group after spotting some Devin slander.
She wrote: “Please stop with false information on my brother, he never said he was addicted that wasn’t even the point of him tell that story, my brother was only taking the ibuprofen to hide the fact that he injured his back from when he fell in highschool!
“Because LOVES playing basketball so much he didn’t wanna stop and The only reason we found out in the first place is because he fell again in college and that’s when he discovered he was had a back injury and he was hiding it. And in that he became codependent on it I’m so tired of this narrative on Devin.”
Devin is yet to publically address the storyline but it seems to be a case of miscommunication rather than some scandalous tea.
