Ranking all of Lara Croft’s Tomb Raider 4-6 Remastered outfits by how hard they slay

If there’s one thing that’s just as iconic as the games themselves when it comes to Tomb Raider, it’s the outfits Lara Croft pillages that treasure she shouldn’t really be touching in. Ever since Tomb Raider 2, the outfits Lara changes in to depending on what globetrotting location she’s ended up in have been the stuff of gaming legend. Whilst these three games in the recently released Tomb Raider 4-6 Remastered collection, namely The Last Revelation, Chronicles and Angel of Darkness aren’t as beloved as the first three Aspyr released last year – the outfits are arguably better than ever. We’ve had the game for nearly a week now, and the remastered outfits are in their most beautiful form yet. Here’s a ranking of all the outfits Lara Croft outfits in Tomb Raider 4-6 – from worst to best.

8. Young Lara

Young Lara pops up both in Tomb Raider IV and Chronicles, and it’s the exact same fit. Takes the bottom of the ranking of Tomb Raider 4-6 outfits with ease because I honestly have minimal interest of playing as a pigtail wearing childlike Lara. I want the adult Lara full throttle! It gives me The Wild Thornberrys. Also HATED that the original version of this outfit had a low cut top like adult Lara might wear. Completely inappropriate for a teenager in a video game.

Takes a lot of vibes from the classic Tomb Raider 2 wetsuit we saw on Lara when she ventured down to the Maria Doria – which is incidentally the first time we ever saw her change out of her iconic and most well known outfit. I have no qualms with the Angel of Darkness wetsuit – love the colour of it. If I was wishing for any wetsuit though, I’d want her in the silver one Angelina Jolie wears in the film. Wow.

6. Camo shorts

All the Angel of Darkness outfits in this ranking are an absolute wow, and Tomb Raider 4-6 remasters them perfectly. But I just wish this one wasn’t so similar to the long pant edition that I actually prefer more. If the camo shorts were a different colour or something? It’s like a less summery South Pacific from Tomb Raider 3.

5. Classic

You can’t really argue with the power and impact the classic Lara Croft outfit has. It’s a cultural moment in its own right, and personally I love the way The Last Revelation and Chronicles have featured the little panel detail on her blue leotard. Sort of takes the shine off it that it’s always the outfit you’re most used to and doesn’t feel like an exciting change like when you get to use one of the others for the first time but you can’t argue with a classic. Classics are classic for a reason, come on now.

4. Camo pants

We just don’t get enough of Lara in pants, if you ask me. I’m bored shitless of shorts! She’s eating this down. Couple it with the Louvre lasers in Angel of Darkness and it’s taking me to the Resident Evil movies (complimentary).

3. Hi-tech catsuit

SO much better than the Tomb Raider 3 catsuit. Really feels hi-tech and Matrix-y. The sunglasses have the Y2K girlies in a chokehold. Would be higher still if the remaster had kept that ultra glossy sheen that the OG Chronicles had. This one is a bit too matte.

2. Russia camouflage

Look at this. Just so great. What else would you want to be wearing when a submarine sinks? She means business. The hat alone ended TR3’s Antarctica one in the same sort of vibe.

1. Double denim

I will go as far to say that this look does not only top the ranking of the best outfits in Tomb Raider 4-6, but the best outfit in any Tomb Raider game in history. I’d potentially be pushed to say it’s the best any video game character has ever looked – but only when she’s got the sunglasses on too. I just love seeing Lara Croft wear something that is so atypical of the character and yet still makes perfect sense. It’s just so ROCK STAR. Star quality. Adore it. Angel of Darkness, they could never make me hate you.
