Lancaster University announces summer vacation programmes available for students
Destinations include Fiji, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Peru
Lancaster University’s Global Experiences team is offering students the opportunity to travel to a range of countries during the summer.
The choice of countries that students can travel to include Fiji, Indonesia (the island of Bali), Malaysia, and Peru.
The purpose of these programmes is to help enact positive change and improve sustainability abroad.
Two of these programmes will be ran with Lancaster University’s partner Sunway University in Malaysia. Students can choose between The Malaysia Experience programme, which involves spending a month immersed in the Malaysian culture, or the new Planetary Health & Sustainability in the Tropics programme. To find out more about these programmes, information talks will be held on Wednesday 29th January and Monday 3rd February.
The Green Camp programme also gives students the chance to experience the culture and sustainability practices of Bali, Indonesia. Activities include exploring rice heritage, building with sustainable bamboo, supporting mangrove conservation, coral gardening, seaweed farming, and volcanic immersion. More information will be given through talks on Thursday 30th and Friday 31st January, as well as Wednesday 12th February.
Sustainability practice is also the central focus of the EcoSwell program in Peru, South America. Students will work on projects with developing communities, following the UN’s Sustainability Development Goals.
