Inside the painful reason All Stars’ Kaz Crossley looks so different to last Love Island stint

It all began when she was arrested

The increasingly gorgeous Kaz Crossley has undergone quite a transformation because of her battle with alopecia, something which is bound to be a topic of discussion once she enters the Love Island: All Stars villa.

In just a few days time – five days to be precise – Kaz Crossley will join the likes of Luca Bish and Gabby Allen for another stab at love in the South African sun. It’s been nearly six years since Kaz was on the ITV show, so there’s never been a better time to look back at her dramatic hair transformation: From long locks to buzz-cut blonde.

Kaz Crossley has been very candid about her battle with alopecia

Back in 2018, we were introduced to model Kaz when she had darker shoulder-length usually worn in a tight, slicked-back, bun. Obviously, from the release of the All Stars promo pictures, we can see that Kaz is now proudly rocking that platinum blonde buzz cut.

The hair loss began in 2023 when Kaz was detained at Abu Dhabi airport before being held in a Dubai prison on suspicion of drug offences.

“But due to recent stress, I’m experiencing hair loss. It’s got a lot thinner, I also have a small bald patch right at the front of my head,” she said on Instagram at the time. “I’m trying to cover it by changing my parting or wearing one of my @kazbands (of course) but when I tie my hair up it’s still so noticeable. In all honesty I’m pretty sure it’s getting worse. I’m not usually one to care too much about what I look like but its starting to affect my confidence.”

She shaved off her hair completely for charity

After suffering from the condition for some time, Kaz decided to ditch her signature locks completely and donate them to Little Lady Locks to be made into a wig.

“So yesterday I decided to cut all my hair off- to create a wig for a little girl who needs it,” she said on Instagram. “I’m determined to spread awareness of this beautiful charity and hope you all see my dedication to this cause.”

But learning to love her new haircut has not been an easy task. She regularly asked for help from followers and even went as far as to say she felt like a boy.

“I feel like a boy. I’d be lying if I said that I felt super confident or I love it,” she earlier told FUBAR Radio. “It’s weird for me to not have my hair but you know if it means that I take a bit of my confidence away to give these girls their confidence, then I’ll do that.”

In July, she visited James Lear for a platinum blonde dye job to complete the look I am now obsessing over. There’s nothing more kick-ass than a woman rocking a buzz cut and she is bound to stand out in a sea of influencer balayage.
