Does this insane theory prove Player 149 is actually the mastermind behind Squid Game?

She’s the real one in charge here

Right, I have another crazy Squid Game theory for you all, except this one is about Player 149 and her true role behind the games. Prepare never to look this adorable grandma in the same light again.

The wild Squid Game theory proposes that Player 149 isn’t actually the innocent old lady we all think she is, but is actually Player 001’s boss and the mastermind behind the whole operation. But what are the signs that hint there might be more to Player 149 than first meets the eye? Let’s find out!

First off, whilst all the other players joined the games because of their debts, she joins Squid Game to “help her son” but does that just mean she came with the power to protect him since she knows the risks the games hold. A lot of people are also speculating she could actually be Player 001’s wife from the first season of the show, which would be an absolutely insane twist.

Other signs which point towards the theory of Player 149 being the mastermind behind Squid Game is the fact she was the only player who was allowed to take a weapon in with her, albeit a makeshift one.

Whilst the organisers might have let her take it in as they thought it’d make the games more entertaining, was it also because she has the authority to take in contraband items because of her role?

Then during the hand holding game when her son was carried into a room by someone else, I genuinely assumed that was the end of her but Player 001 helped to rescue her. It would seem strange to do so if there wasn’t a benefit to him, and since we know his true role in the games, perhaps he knows to keep his boss safe at all costs during the challenges.

Lastly, when Player 388 was about to fight the guards she asked him to stop and told him it wasn’t worth dying for. Was she genuinely trying to help save his life, or save the life of her own staff members?

Either way, it certainly seems like she knows an awful lot about what’s about to happen in the games, but it looks like we’ll have to wait until season three to find out her true identity.
