Where was he!? There was one Gavin and Stacey icon not in the final and people are fuming

I need answers

The Gavin and Stacey finale did an amazing job of getting pretty much all the cast back for a final appearance as Ruth Jones and James Corden said goodbye to the sitcom. Even Sheridan Smith and Pam Ferris managed to come back to the show for a final send off! But there’s one pretty big name who had loads of funny moments in the OG run of the show who didn’t appear in the Gavin and Stacey 2019 special either – Deano, played by Mathew Baynton.

Deano was an icon on the show

Remember Deano? He was one of the most memorable pals of Gavin and Smithy back in the OG days. He had loads of funny moments, usually centred around him being a bit thick. He learnt Welsh to go for the Essex lads night out in Cardiff, and had the moment where he and Smithy were doing a conservatory for Pam and Mick and he said he liked a half and half coffee and tea.

Mathew Baynton who plays Deano has been in loads since, namely Horrible Histories, recently Wonka. He also starred in a show with James Corden called The Wrong Mans. But where was he in the finale since everyone else was back?

People are fuming he wasn’t there.

“If Deano doesn’t turn up I for one will be very disappointed” and “The Essex boys, but where’s Deano…. #GavinAndStacey” read some tweets about his absence

It is actually a mystery.

Considering how much the show brought back other bit characters, it was wild that Deano wasn’t in the Gavin and Stacey finale. Mathew Baynton hasn’t posted about his absence yet, but has limited comments on his Instagram. If I was to theorise on his whereabouts, perhaps there was just a scheduling conflict with filming when they were getting the finale done?
