Smithy waking up in the bath

On the morning of his Stag Do, Gavin wakes up a very hungover Smithy and tells him they missed the suit fitting. He slept in the bath, which also famously happened in series one.

Gavin raising the piece of toast

At Smithy’s wedding to Nessa, Gavin holds up a piece of actual toast as he makes the classic joke “Let’s raise a toast.” Smithy did exactly the same thing at Gavin’s wedding to Stacey.

Pam slapping Dawn

When chaotic Dawn is stressing about her ex-husband Pete’s new girlfriend, Pam slaps her around the face like she does in an old Gavin and Stacey episode.

That iconic foam party

On Smithy’s Stag Do, they go to the cheesy foam party at their local nightclub, a throwback to the foam party scene when Gavin is really missing Stacey.

‘Six months?!’

When Gwen reveals she’s dating Dave Coaches, Bryn goes crazy and shouts: “Six months?!” Pam’s said exactly the same thing when Gavin announced he was moving to Barry.

The group dance scene

During the party Pam and Mick host the night before Smithy’s Stag Do, they all do exactly the same hilarious dance moves in the living room that they did in the original series.

Those matching Stag Do shirts

All the boys rip open their jackets and surprise Smithy with matching West Ham shirts like they did at Gavin’s Stag Do.

The corn on the cob

When Stacey mentions corn on the cob at KFC, Smithy and Nessa look at each other weirdly as the vegetable became a euphemism for them sleeping together in a past episode.

Opening the gate

The scene where Bryn gets off the bus and opens the gate so they can cross the field is similar to the moment Smithy opened the toll barrier for Gavin.

Smithy can’t read the sign

When Smithy rushes to declare his love for Nessa before her boat leaves, he can’t read the sign, which happened in an old episode too as he couldn’t read Welsh.

That final group photo

Finally, the finale ended with them all taking a group picture together, which they also did in the original Gavin and Stacey.
