Scotty lashes out at The Ultimatum producers for editing him to look ‘aggressive’

‘I know I did not have the best first impression’

The Ultimatum season three was a total nightmare for the producers with four contestants quitting halfway through, but Scotty was also a hot topic of conversation. People online have commented on his demeanour throughout on the show, but Scotty has since lashed out at the producers who he claims edited him to look angry and aggressive.

On The Viall Files podcast, Scotty made a point of explaining that his first impression was bad and he was “horrified and devastated” to see himself portrayed that way. He also said watching back the episode made him feel like he was “99.9 per cent bad, maybe 0.1 per cent good.”

“The way I look is so angry and aggressive, and almost combative for no real reason. And so, watching some of those moments back and seeing how certain things were represented, it was so interesting how it was edited. And I get it, first impressions matter, first impressions are super important and I know I did not have the best first impression. But I do think there’s a narrative that’s being created and stitched together based on this experience and how I showed up, or in some moments, didn’t show up, so I think that was the biggest shock for me.”

He also spoke about *that* argument with Zaina that everybody has been talking about online. Scotty had a very different side of events to what was shown on The Ultimatum, and claimed the producers didn’t catch his sense of humour.

“It’s so funny because the conversation I was having with Zaina, we were actually laughing through that… and so wild how strong the reaction was. We went to the gym that morning, I made her breakfast, and then we sat down to eat, and I made a comment that was like ‘did you eat without me,’ because I had gone to the bathroom to fix my hair and she had started eating. And she was like ‘yeah,’ and so I think the dynamic shift after that made it look like I was so upset that she didn’t want to do any date ideas,” he explained.

He said that “you really have to read between the lines” when watching a reality show like this. “I’ve been in a long-distance relationship for almost three years prior to that, so if I was really that upset about someone eating without me, there’s no way I could be in a long-distance relationship, or a relationship at all,” he pressed.

He even admitted their fight looked like it “escalated so quickly” when really he was just “being sarcastic.”

Scotty remarked being “surprised at myself” because of the differences between “how the conversation was and how the conversation looks.”

He also said Zaina “misunderstood” a lot of his sarcasm after she claimed his energy changed on set.
