It turns out Danny Jones will be forced to return the I’m A Celeb prize after winning show

I bet he’s livid

After winning I’m A Celeb 2024 and being crowned King of the Jungle, it turns out Danny Jones will have to return the only prize he got. He must be fuming.

Danny Jones won our hearts with how kind he was to his campmates, smashing the trials, and opening up to jungle dad, Barry McGuigan. He was then named the new king, after three long weeks of jungle life.

But it turns out, the only prize Danny got for his time in the I’m A Celeb camp has to get swiftly handed back and he’s not allowed to keep it. When a celebrity wins the show, they are handed a crown and sceptre as a gift, to pose for photos after victory. But, previous winner Sam Thompson has said he tried to keep this, but winners get it taken off them.

Speaking on This Morning after his 2023 win, Sam said: “I didn’t get to keep anything! They wouldn’t let me keep anything! I had to give the sceptre back. I really wanted to bring it through airport security because it’s quite big. But yeah, I don’t have anything to show for it.”

So, literally nothing to show for winning. The winning celebs give back both the crown and sceptre, and leave the jungle empty handed. Just like the other campmates. Ouch.

Of course the celebrities get paid for their time in the jungle, but that’s nothing to do with how successful they actually turn out to be. Danny was quite middle ground with how much he was paid this year. It was reported he was paid £150k for the jungle, whereas Coleen, who came second, bagged £1.5million. The lowest paid celeb this year was Dean, with a reported pay of £60k.

Beyond being able to say he’s king, Danny doesn’t get any sort of physical prize. A shame, he deserves it!
