We’ve been lied to! The gross task the I’m A Celeb campmates don’t actually have to do

All those theatrics for nothing!

Why do I actually feel lied to?! An ex I’m A Celeb campmate, legend Phil Tufnell who was crowned king of the jungle in 2003, dropped a huge show spoiler in his recent memoir. He basically spilled the beans that the gross task everyone complains about doing is a complete scam, and the I’m A Celeb campmates aren’t even expected to do it.

The disgusting chore in question is emptying the dunny. In the camp, the ITV producers send a list of tasks that must be done during the day, which includes cooking meals, washing up the pots and pans, collecting wood for the fire, and generally keeping the camp clean and tidy. It also supposedly made the campmates clean out the camp toilet, which is by far the most revolting task of them all.

However, in his new memoir, ex-cricketer Phil Tufnell revealed that it was all a lie, and that the campmates don’t actually have to empty the toilet themselves. What they actually do is a lot less disgusting.

He wrote: “A little secret here – the contestants remove the dunny, but don’t actually empty it. They carry it down to a camouflaged wooden hut, tap on the door, and clear off.” So, all they have to do is pick it up and move it somewhere else. I mean, it’s still a gruesome job, but it’s nowhere as bad as physically having to empty it out.

Phil continued to explain how it worked in camp: “It’s basically an extreme version of that old knock-and-run game where you wrap a bit of dog muck in newspaper, set it on fire, drop it by someone’s front door, ring the bell, and leg it.” Absolutely lovely.
