Dave Coulier addresses backlash over John Stamos’ ‘insulting’ bald cap gesture towards him
‘He’s not really supporting him, he’s posing for a photo op’
John Stamos was dragged this week for posting an “insulting” picture of him with his friend Dave Coulier, in which John was trying to show support for him whilst he’s battling cancer.
John helped to shave Dave’s hair whilst also wearing a bald cap of his own, something which led a lot of people to have some very strong opinions about.
John wrote in the caption: “Nothing like throwing on a bald cap and flexing some Photoshop skills to show some love and solidarity with my bro @dcoulier You’re handling this with so much strength and positivity—it’s inspiring. I know you’re going to get through this, and I’m proud to stand with you every step of the way.”
However, not everyone was so convinced his gesture was a show of “love and solidarity” and instead felt it was nothing more than a “photo op.” One follower commented: “This isn’t support. You can take your cap off.” Another added: “He’s not really supporting him. He’s posing for a photo op”
But now Dave Coulier has now addressed the backlash towards John Stamos and has released a statement defending the actor. He wrote: “This is how we are handling a very tough time. I’m a comedian and humor is what drives me. John knows how to cheer me up and I laughed out loud when he arrived wearing a bald cap—being a true loving friend and brother.”

John Stamos’ wife was also quick to defend her husband, commenting on his Instagram post: “I really hope the people who chose to say cruel things about my husband—who flew across the country and did what he could do bring joy to his friend going through chemo—look inward.
Instead of tearing down others, take that time to think about how you can bring joy to the people you love.”
