Nottingham is officially the UK’s cheapest city for a pint

A study has found that Nottingham has ranked joint first in the UK for places to find the cheapest pint, with an average price of just £1.63.
In the study, which was conducted by Magnet Kitchens, researchers used crowdsourced data from Numbeo to analyse the prices of beer in 190 cities globally in 2024.
Those looking for a reasonable night out will be relieved to hear that Nottingham and Coventry ranked joint first in the UK at £1.63 a pint on average, while a beer in London would set you back an eye-watering £6.75, the Express reports.
Nottingham is renowned for its student nightlife, and is home to a variety of clubs and bars offering a night out at a reasonable price, while Coventry is know for its famous medieval cathedral and art galleries.
Both cities fell below the UK average for a bottle of beer, which was found to be just £1.98.
Kingston upon Hull and Stoke-on-Trent ranked second and third, at just £1.65 and £1.70 respectively.

However, the UK is not home to the lowest average for beer prices. The lowest average price of a pint can be found in Italy, in a city called Taranto. A drink here will set you back just £0.65.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, the most expensive place for a pint can be found in Australia, in Darwin. On average, you could be paying up to a staggering £7.48.
