Goodbye Proud Mary’s and Heidi’s: Here’s what we know about the Cardiff bars’ rebrands
One of them will also now only let in people aged 21 and over on Saturday nights
Cardiff students, it’s time to say goodbye to Proud Mary’s and Heidi’s as they’ll be rebranding!
As part of the rebrand, the two iconic bars will be having name changes.
Proud Mary’s will be known today as Bonnie Rogues Pub and Heidi’s is set to become Barbara’s Bier House, as of the 4th November 2024.
This comes after the operator of the two, NEOS Hospitality, had an extremely successful first six months in business and has decided to fund £25 million into the growth of their bars.
The rebrand will see both bars host a variety of themed nights, catering to anyone who might find themselves out in Cardiff. The venues will also remain unaffected as a result, with neither of them closing their doors to accompany the change.
Bonnie Rogues is officially rebranded as of today and the bar is set to host a weekend of fun, including happy hours, a variety of delicious food and drinks, sports entertainment and even live music. It has also made its Saturday night access 21 and over only, to bring a slightly more curated crowd to their weekend events.
Barbara’s Bier Bar, however, will make its mark in Cardiff during the first week of November, presenting a week of different events such as Ski Sunday, après ski sing-a-longs, and more.
The managers of both venues have spoken to For Cardiff about the rebrand. Ben Browne, of Bonnie Rogues said: “We can’t wait to introduce Bonnie to Cardiff and show the city what we can offer. Proud Mary has been amazing, but it’s time to build on what we’ve been doing for the last two years.”

The venue manager of Barbara’s Bier Haus, Josh Donnelly, added that the rebrand has come “just in time for the ski season,” and that the bar will be “hosting the best parties and really bring the mountain vibe to Cardiff.”
Whilst the update might come as a shock to some Cardiff residents, the bars have set themselves up for a smooth transition between the two and will definitely uphold their icon status, whilst bringing in lots of newcomers.
