What your University of Leeds library choice says about you

Eddy B goers, we know you love a gossip

Each of the Leeds libraries give off very different vibes. From the gloomy energy of Health Sciences to the completely unserious nature of Laidlaw, Uni of Leeds has a study spot for everyone.

However, as you grow throughout your time at Leeds your go-to library will inevitably change.

So, here’s what your current fave one says about you.

Health Sciences Library

I actually didn’t realise this library existed until now which says a lot about my degree. If you go to Health Sciences, I respect it. You understand what pulling an ‘all-nighter’ means, and I’m not talking about going out. STEM students dominate here and we’ve got your future doctors, dentists and scientists in this library. So, if you ever want to feel out of depth, just spend an evening here as everyone is constantly studying or quizzing each other for their seemingly endless exams. If you go to this library, you are extremely smart and also tired, but you’ve got your life together in general. Well done. Maybe I should start going…

Laidlaw Library

I would say this is the most modern library out of the five, so big up Laidlaw for that. If you go here, you probably also love a Tesco meal deal. You are the epitome of procrastination; you purposely pick a window seat to pretend you are the main character in a movie. However, if you choose to sit in the café downstairs, you’re either a lost fresher who can’t find their student card or you’re just someone who loves to yap.

Brotherton Library

As a first year I would come here to romanticise my life. It is a beautiful building with a lot of history, and I’m certain that if you go here, you LOVE to read, your favourite season is autumn, and you’d kill for a pumpkin spiced latte. Am I right? On the other hand, whilst you may be the nerdiest out of your group, at least you’re graduating with a first class degree with honours.

West Wing

Although it isn’t technically its own library, West Wing does exist. If this is where you go to study, don’t. You will not get work done as you start to bump into everyone you know. Everyone there is in a sports society and almost definitely a perpetrator of flatcest.

Edward Boyle Library

Finally, everyone’s favourite, we have Eddy B. This building offers something for everyone, whether that’s eye candy or your next outfit idea. This is the place where you go to impress your level 10 crush. Realistically, you won’t get work done here as you’re too busy people-watching. It’s also definitely the most eventful library so if you love a gossip, not-so-cheap coffees and fashion inspiration this is where you need to go.
