After a four year absence, night buses are returning to Bournemouth and Poole

Morebus has reintroduced night buses including a new university route

After a four year absence since the pandemic, the night bus service are returning to Bournemouth and Poole. Morebus will once again run its N1 and N2 routes, as well as a new bus, N5.

From Friday 20th September, the N1 and N2 will run the existing route of the M1 and M2 buses between Bournemouth and Poole.

The new N5 route will run between Bournemouth and Bournemouth University’s Talbot Campus.

Morebus’ general manager Richard Wade said: “We ran a consultation earlier this summer, to establish which buses would be most useful in the late evenings and early mornings, and we learned that people would be keen to travel with us during these times for work, rail and coach connections, as well as for nights out.

“So we have reintroduced our N1 route, which is identical to our very popular M1 route, and the N2 is identical to the M2 – as far as Southbourne, where it will be extended to Christchurch Two Rivers Meet.”

The Daily Echo reports that: “The new timetable will see a full 24 hour service on the N1 and N2 on Friday nights through to Saturday, and from Saturday to Sunday.”

The addition of the N5 will benefit students, allowing them not only to travel between the campus and Bournemouth at night safely but also through Winton, Moordown and Charminster.

Regarding the new N5 route, Richard added: “Although this service doesn’t quite provide the same 24 hour cover, it is very close to doing that.”

Information about the timetables for the new night buses can be found on the Morebus website.
