Who was in the wrong – Eve or Charlie? Everyone’s torn over the wild MAFS UK honeymoon drama

‘Charlie has an anxious attachment style and Eve is avoidant’

Last night’s episode of MAFS UK saw the show give us our first glimpse at the honeymoons of 2024, and it was one of the most explosive in Married at First Sight history. Whilst things were kicking off with Caspar and Emma for sure, they at least took some steps to resolution. Then we have Eve and Charlie. The two brides were a pairing seemingly match made in heaven. They had the wedding day of dreams. They then had the honeymoon of utter nightmare. Two people who seemed perfect for each other, but their opposing methods of communication lead to what is one of the most volatile rows ever seen on MAFS honeymoons. But who was in the right during this MAFS UK honeymoon drama – Charlie or Eve? Nobody can decide, and it is truly tricky.

Eve’s point of view on it all is that it’s moving too fast. Charlie openly said at the start of the whole show that she’s known amongst her friends for falling in love fast. Despite the fact the two have been intimate, Eve is put off by the perceived clinginess she gets from Charlie and off camera the two have some kind of blow up about it – which results run Eve sleeping in a different room. She feels like Charlie takes it too personally when she wants space and that Charlie often shouts at her.

On the Charlie end, she feels hurt and rejected that Eve doesn’t want to spend time with her or share the same room. This is made worse by the fact that Eve shuts down and doesn’t communicate – choosing to storm off. Sometimes, Charlie is the one who storms off. The two then end up sometimes having sex after an argument, which must confuse matters further. They obviously are attracted to each other and get on really well – but the differences in approach is making a disaster of epic proportions.

Because neither is really in the wrong or doing anything not okay, but the way they handle it makes it feel apocalyptic. The storming off, the shutting down of the conversation – no one makes any headway. It’s a very toxic place to be so early. Charlie and Eve are both well intentioned but are hurting each other in the process.

Opinion online is really split – with most agreeing Charlie is full on but the way Eve handles it makes it harder. Harder on her and on Charlie.

Like, where do they take it from here?

It’s all to do with communication and meeting in the middle, but seems so far like neither are prepared to do that.

One thing’s for sure that we can all agree on, though. We thought these two would be the power couple of the series. And if one thing this MAFS UK Charlie and Eve honeymoon drama has taught us it’s that that is certainly not the case.
