A MAFS UK cast member just told us how the show decides who goes where on the honeymoons

Peak that couples went to Jamaica and The Maldives and others got lumped with the Lake District

The MAFS UK honeymoons are back tonight, a 2024 return for the holiday that usually sees a Married at First Sight marriage crumble almost instantly. Going on holiday with your mates can cause international warfare – let alone with a stranger you have to share a bed with the whole time. Some are harmonious and some are hellish, and whilst those things are happening some honeymoons are either hot or cold. If you’ve ever watched MAFS UK, you might have noticed that some of the honeymoons are in hot, scorching destinations and look mega fancy whereas others are in a colder climate. I wanted to know how the producers decided who goes where for the honeymoons on MAFS UK – so I got an ex cast member to tell me straight.

For context of what made me wonder this, as a long term viewer of the show since its reboot, I noticed that every season there were always a few honeymoons in less than tropical climates. The worst offender of this ever has to be Franky and Marilyse from the 2021 series – who were whisked away to the Lake District for their honeymoon. And it looked absolutely freezing.

Other cold locations include Switzerland, Bavaria and Iceland. Last year’s saw couples go to Austria and Lapland, which is way more fun for cold country honeymoons than the Lake District. But still, why did some get beach holidays?

Shona and Brad were in the bloody Maldives, for god’s sake!

So, how do producers decide who goes where?

The Tab spoke to Laura Vaughan, one of the fan fave brides from last year’s series of MAFS UK who jetted off with Arthur to Mexico for their honeymoon. When I asked Laura how the producers decided who goes where for their MAFS UK honeymoons, she told me “You answer whether you’d prefer a hot or cold destination. If you say you don’t mind either way, you’ll probably get the cold one.”

When I followed this up on what would happen if one half of the couples chose the hot destination and the other the cold, Laura said “I reckon you’d still get cold. Good for the plot.”

Despite tonight’s MAFS UK honeymoons looking pretty hot from the preview, time will tell who gets this year’s cold lot. And now you’ll know how they ended up there
