Wait, the Reddit user who found Celebrity Number Six got accused of creating the pic with AI?

Yesterday, the news that the years-long Reddit mystery centred on discovering the identity of the person dubbed ‘Celebrity Number Six’ was a joyous occasion for the terminally online. TLDR: A Reddit user posted a fabric with a load of 2008-era celebs on it and everyone got identified except the mysterious and illusive Celebrity Number Six. There is a full Subreddit dedicated to identifying them, and in the early hours of Monday Celebrity Number Six has been revealed as Spanish model Leticia Sardá. After years of searching, it finally has come to an end. But how didn’t they identify Leticia Sardá finally? One of the Reddit users on the subreddit IndigoRoom said someone mentioned Sardá’s name in discussions, and on research IndigoRoom found the photographer who took a picture of Sardá for a women’s mag. The Reddit user reached out to the photographer who then confirmed that it is indeed Leticia Sardá – finishing the mystery that has had Reddit hooked for so long. Except it hadn’t – because then IndigoRoom from Reddit got accused of creating the image of Celebrity Number Six via AI and faking the emails?

He didn’t do that of course, but this petty drama is wild. In a TikTok explaining what happened, the full saga is revealed.

The TikTok from @notkahnjunior explains how IndigoRoom revealed the identity. “Anyone who sees this post is probably like oh a random guy found it, cool, case closed right? No. There is so much hatred and anger. IndigoRoom posted it on the Subreddit, but there is also a Discord for it. How did they react? They said ‘Oh my god, this is crazy’ and then one person said ‘it’s fake.’ Very important that this person is the moderator of the Subreddit.”

This user then explained that IndigoRoom DMed him on Reddit and asked him about the information he has regarding Leticia Sardá and asks whether he should post about it on the Subreddit. The mod is receptive and says sure, go ahead – as per the screenshot of the conversation in the TikTok.

The TikTok explains how Sardá looks so much like Celebrity Number Six, and says “the thing about Leticia Sardá is there’s barely any pictures of her online, maybe like 20. When the photo went up, the mod claimed that it’s fake and AI” He makes accusations that IndigoRoom has blurred buttons and made a load of editing goofs. The mod claims all the emails are also spoof.

All the drama has been fully been made redundant now by the fact Leticia Sardá has done an interview with Vanity Fair holding the picture – literally confirming it’s her and the Celebrity Number Six Reddit mystery was solved without any AI nonsense ruining it.
