Love Is Blind’s Shaina Hurley reveals she was diagnosed with cancer whilst pregnant
Shaina was three months pregnant when she found out she had cervical cancer
Shaina Hurley appeared in the second season of Love Is Blind and has recently given birth to a bay boy, who is now six months old. However, in a recent interview with People, she explained that whilst she was three months pregnant she received a devastating diagnosis that she had cervical cancer.
Due to her pregnancy, Shaina didn’t want to undergo certain treatment options and whilst she safely delivered her son via a c-section, she suffered from a mini-stroke just two weeks after giving birth. Since then she has been living cancer-free, and has shared that she’s finally “on the other side.”

She admitted that the diagnosis came as a massive shock as she had “no symptoms” of cervical cancer and the disease was picked up during a standard smear test. She went on to say that following her test she was told by her doctor that her results had come back as being abnormal, and she would have to undergo a colposcopy to further investigate.
Following the colposcopy Love Is Blind star Shaina Hurley was told that the cells had already progressed into cervical cancer with her health “not looking good” and she was soon given a stage two diagnosis.

She explained how she felt the “fear” of having cancer and was forced to go into “survival mode.” She explained: “I felt the fear creeping in but I knew then and there, I can’t let the enemy take over my mind. I can’t go down that dark hole. I had to go into survival mode and tell God, ‘I trust you.’ I just prayed for the best, at the end of the day.”
Whilst she was offered various treatment options such as cold knife conization, she decided to wait until she was 22 weeks pregnant to undergo surgery to see if the cancer had spread to any lymph nodes. She shared: “It hadn’t spread to the lymph nodes but they were still wanting to do chemotherapy. I still had no symptoms, so I did deny chemotherapy. It was hard for the doctors because I was their patient first. And I was a tough patient.”

She also decided to wait to deliver the baby at 37 weeks, instead of the 32 weeks her doctors were recommending. She explained the reasoning behind her decision, saying: “I took the risk and pushed it to 37-and-a-half weeks and delivered a healthy baby boy. We had a miscarriage before Yiorgos and so when I finally got a healthy pregnancy, nothing was going to stop me. But it did put a cloud over it.”
Following the birth, Shaina suffered from a mini-stroke but once she had recovered from that, she underwent an initial cold knife colonization surgery. Sadly the first procedure wasn’t successful but following a second procedure she is now cancer-free.
