Wait, has Gracie Abrams already released a song about Paul Mescal?!

The lyrics about ‘movie stars’ seem highly suspicious

You definitely already knew this, but sparks are flying between Gracie Abrams and Paul Mescal, and we might have a song to prove it. If you needed visual proof of their relationship, trust me, there’s an abundance of it. They’ve not been publicly dating long, but it seems like there might be more to the story that we didn’t know before: Her newest album release, The Secret Of Us, has a pretty shady song that couldn’t really be about anyone else.

The song, titled Normal Thing, opens with an insane reference: “It’s a normal thing to fall in love with movie stars / When the lights are low, and red at all their favorite bars / And the story you want is the story you get / Are you special or was this all scripted in his head?”

Let’s dissect this one shocker at a time: Normal Thing sounds a lot like Normal People, the iconic show that shot Paul into stardom. Secondly, the reference to movie stars feels a little too aimed at the actor.

The two have been spotted on many dates, so it wouldn’t be out of the question for him to have taken Gracie to one of his “favourite bars.”

It seems that many others agree on X that the song could be about him. One user even hinted at two more tracks, Risk and Free, which have similar stories behind them, but none of them hit quite as close as Normal Thing did.

The song delves into even juicier Gracie Abrams/Paul Mescal details: “I was on my couch, you were on my screen, one of us was stoned / And the plotline was rare, swear I felt you right there / Maybe that was the beginning of our love affair.” I guess things with the movie star really did kick off, and I’m willing to bet it’s Paul who she’s singing about. How adorable!!
