Inside the insanely random £1k goody bags given to all the Olympians at Paris 2024

One gift alone is worth £1,049

Olympic athletes look like they have a pretty cushy life – front row seats to the most lucrative sporting events of the year, stunning bodies, and above all else, an exclusive Olympic goody bag. And not only any old bag – but an Olympic tote bag, complete with stitching of the five Olympic rings. You would look like a true icon rocking that tote bag in the Olympic village.

Loads of Olympians have shared online what exactly is in this mystery little bag and there’s some wacky stuff in there. From the expensive, to the expected and to the outright bizarre, here’s a look inside the Olympics goody bag given to athletes at the start of the games.

A new phone

Undoubtedly the best gift inside the Olympics good bag is a Samsung mobile phone.

The Samsung phone is a special edition created for the Olympics and is meant to be worth £1,049 – which is more than some countries reward their medal winners with! Adding history and heritage to the gift, it’s also a flip phone – a real throwback for some of the older athletes who would have experienced the flip phone era in the 2000s.

Olympic rugby seven’s player, Tyla King, revealed that her phones for the last nine years have all actually been free and gifted to her in the Olympics goody bag she was given at her past games’.

A Samsung gift card

On top of the brand spanking new phone, athletes are also given a Samsung gift-card. Talk about going big or going home.

All athletes received a large Olympics flag (or towel?) that has words of its values imprinted on it, including the words respect, inclusion and solidarity. Wholesome.

A water bottle

There’s some pretty boring stuff in there too – I personally wouldn’t be taken away by the blue and black plastic water bottle, it is giving kids’ summer camp star of the week prize to me – inoffensive, but a little bit dry and who really cares?

A Febreze Air Freshener

All 10,500 athletes received a Febreze Air Freshener in their goody bags on arrival to the Olympic village. This could be useful after a sweat session? Not the most exclusive product but I can see the logic to this one.

Shampoo and conditioner

Inside the Olympic themed travel bag are loads of cosmetic products, ranging from skin to hair products. The two bottles of Head & Shoulders shampoo are another lovely sweet treat – not just one bottle, but two! How lucky and glamorous, I am truly jealous.

Toothpaste

You also get some Oral B toothpaste included, which I’m sure is the second biggest childhood dream for many of these athletes after working their way to the Olympics. It would truly be the icing on the cake to be the best in the world at your sport and come back to the Olympic village to realise that you’ve got some more Oral B to make those teeth look perfect in the medal ceremony.

Hand sanitiser

What was in our goodie bags that we received at the Olympic Village? Did we all get phones?🤔….. #fyp #olympics #olympicgames #paris2024 #unboxing

Oh, they also got given some hand sanitiser. This is probably a well thought out gift given how many athletes got Covid back in Tokyo 2020 during the Olympic games. You can never beat some hygiene in the place rumoured to be hot and heavy.

A pocket guide to Paris

This is actually a really thoughtful gift and one which loads of Olympians will have found handy, whether it was their first time in Paris or not.
