One week on, here’s everything Love Island 2024 winners Mimii and Josh have been up to

They’ve had dates, photoshoots and huge parties

It’s been just one week since Mimii Ngulube and Josh Oyinsan were crowned winners of Love Island 2024, but already they’ve been booked and busy as they adjust to life together in the real world.

Since it’s been confirmed we’re not getting a reunion episode this year, we now have to keep up with the cast ourselves, and usually the special episode would give us a one week check-in with the winners and the other couples. Maya Jama isn’t going to be the one to provide the latest, so instead, here’s everything our Love Island 2024 winners Mimii and Josh have been up to in their first week outside the villa.

Mimii had a huge welcome home party when she got back from the Love Island villa

Straight after winning the show, Mimii and Josh returned to the UK and Mimii was welcomed home with a huge party. It looks as though her friends and family hired out an events space and filled it with balloons, streamers and flowers – giving her a true hero welcome home.

“Welcome home Mimii,” the balloons had written across them, and event planner Infinite Events shared some pictures of how the company made it look so perfect for her. “Beautiful decor for the lovely Love Island winner,” it posted. Mimii shared a picture on her story too, and said she enjoyed her first day back home spending time with her friends and family.

Mimii and Josh then sat down on the sofa with Lorraine

It was straight from the villa to a different ITV studio, as the Love Island winners were on Lorraine just days after their win. They reflected on their time on the show, and Mimii said it was the “best thing she did” but said it was “good to be home” now.

During the chat, Mimii revealed Joey secretly apologised to her after all their drama in the villa, but it happened off camera. She said: “In the environment we were in it was quite intense. In there everyone knows everyone’s business. I’m glad it was left in the villa and he apologised and I’m not one to keep holding a grudge or anything like that. We wish each other well.”

The show then played a recorded message from Joey and Jessy in which they said: “Congratulations Josh and Mimii, we could not be happier for you. You’re both amazing and we can’t wait to support you in the future. Well done, you deserved it. We love you.”

They had their first date night and takeaway together

When they won the show, Mimii and Josh said their next step would be to go on some dates and enjoy the real world together. “There are a few restaurants I want to take her to,” Josh said. “Also to find our dynamic outside the villa and get used to that, that’s what I’m looking forward to.”

What restaurants could Josh have been talking about? Maybe top of The Shard? A classic Sheesh in Chigwell? Be real. They had a Nando’s, of course! Mimii and Josh continued to be relatable, and posted that before doing anything fancy, they had a date night in and got a Nando’s takeaway at home.

Mimii and Josh had a winners shoot with OK! Magazine

In quite possibly the most iconic move, Mimii’s first post back on Instagram was a joint post with OK! Magazine, of a beautiful photoshoot and interview with Josh. “Here they are… your Love Island history makers,” the post said. “Mimii Ngulube and Josh Oyinsan become the first Black couple to win Love Island and they’ve joined forces with OK! for their first ever photoshoot.”

They told the publication they are happily exclusive and “working towards” boyfriend and girlfriend status, but haven’t yet dropped the “L” bomb. They also haven’t spoken about moving in together, with Mimii currently living in Portsmouth and Josh in Dartford.

“We might be going on holiday soon – but I can’t say where because Mimii doesn’t know,” Josh said. Mimii added: “We’re just taking each day that comes. The whole experience is going to be different now that we’re outside of the villa. So, we’re just going to navigate that and actually be in the real world and see what happens. But it’s just so exciting to do new things together. I will be in and out of London and Josh will be coming to Portsmouth whether he likes it or not.”

Josh shared a separate post about his time on Love Island

Mimii went for the OK Mag shoot, but Josh went slightly different for his return to Insta. He gave a cute shoutout to the show and his journey with Mimii. “Never in a million years would I of imagined things to turn out the way they have but I am most definitely grateful about it – happy to have made the friendships and had the experiences I’ve had – I went in to the villa with only two requirements of myself and that was to stay true to myself and leave a better person,” he said.

“I do not believe I could’ve done that without the support of everyone – Thank you ❤️ ! Mimii and I are thrilled with each other and are enjoying every moment together we get! Most importantly we are happy to be a part of history and hope to inspire anyone who doubts themselves! You can do anything if you believe 🫶🏾 #Biglove.”
