Mimii and Josh talk what’s next and reflect on making Love Island history in first interview

I’m crying!

As of last night, Mimii and Josh are our Love Island 2024 winners. And now they’ve spoken in their first interview together since the villa, and reflected on what a whirlwind it’s been.

The couple had a busy few weeks in the villa. Mimii was in there from day one, first exploring a connection with Ayo. That didn’t work out after he left Mimii single during Casa, but then Josh entered as a bombshell and the rest was history. Despite having to constantly fend off opinions from Joey and Sean, Mimii and Josh came out victorious and have won the show and the £50k prize.

All together, this was history making as they are now the first Black couple to win the show. Here’s a rundown of what they said in their exit interview from the villa, after being crowned.

How do Mimii and Josh feel to have won Love Island 2024?

When asked how they feel about their Love Island win, Mimii and Josh overall seem pretty taken aback by it, as though it hasn’t really sunk in yet.

“It feels so surreal, I don’t even have words right now to describe it,” Mimii said. “I want to thank everyone for all the love, it was the best time of my life.” Josh added: “Crazy man. It still hasn’t even sunk in. I’m happy and thankful, and appreciating the love and support we got. We had such an authentic connection and I’m glad everyone saw it.”

Addressing any regrets they might have, they pretty much gave a resounding answer of not wanting to change their journey. However, Mimii did say she might take back asking Joey to do the “secret mission” – which is a fair point.

Josh said: “All positives for me, even the arguments, because it just made me grow. I didn’t think I would handle situations like I was able to.”

They’re planning dates and holidays

Of course, the big question is what Mimii and Josh want to do now they’re a couple in the real world. They have dates planned, and Mimii is setting her sights on going travelling with Josh. She said she is excited for “exploring different places, going to the theatre, museums” and said in the future she sees them in Turks and Caicos, prediciting “lots of travel for us.” Fair enough.

Josh added: “Similar things but there are a few restaurants I want to take her to. Also to find our dynamic outside the villa and get used to that, that’s what I’m looking forward to.”

When asked where he wants them to be in a year, Josh said: “I would like to stay in a healthy relationship, hopefully living together, having a good dynamic and thriving in our careers and doing things we love, supporting each other.”

Mimii and Josh have made Love Island history, which they say has made them proud as a couple

Mimii and Josh are the first Black couple to win Love Island in history. When asked what their reaction to this is, Mimii said: “I’m so shocked about it. It’s nice. Hopefully it will set pace for more diverse representation. It’s overwhelming, but in the best possible way.”

Josh added: “I definitely feel proud. To be able to add a little bit to help balance the scales, if it means greater diverse representation, that is great. We are just happy to write history.”

So cute!
