Must-dos in Cambridge before the end of Easter Term

It’s Easter term, you’re in full revision mode. Going anywhere but the library feels impossible right now. But, in a few short weeks you’ll be home again, and (unless you live in Cambridge) you won’t be able to access any of its amazing sites and activities. So, here are all the things that you just can’t miss before the summer vacation.

The Botanical Gardens

These gardens are GORGEOUS. And free for all Cambridge University students (with a valid Camcard). Definitely worth a visit and a picnic!

Punting

Although this can be slightly terrifying (for me at least), punting is pretty much the epitome of a Cambridge activity – you won’t find it in many other places. Grab yourself an athletic friend, a cheap college punt and a sunny day and you’re all set.

The Fitzwilliam Museum

As a history student, I can confess that I do love a good museum – and the Fitzwilliam is definitely one! Small but varied, with a bit for everyone, this is a go-to for me. (Also free for all.)

Knoops Iced Chocolate

Why is this SO GOOD – the perfect treat on a hot day. I know that Knoops isn’t only in Cambridge, but I personally live nowhere near one, so I’m going to count this one as a Cambridge activity.

Jack’s Gelato

This is an obvious one, but you will be without it for three entire months. I’m getting withdrawals already…

Picnic by the Cam

As high or low-key as you want, it’s basically required to have at least one picnic by the river before the end of term. Bring some friends, or a book, and enjoy the beautiful views.

Grafton Centre charity shops (Burleigh Street)

Perfect for a self-care day or May Ball dress shopping, the number of great charity shops down this road is seriously impressive – take advantage of it while you’re here. Scope is my personal favourite for its collection of floral summer dresses, but I’ve managed to get some amazing pieces from lots of other charity shops down this road.

Watch the sunset from Castle Mound

A win for my fellow hill college students, watching the sunset from Castle Mound is worth doing at least once in your Cambridge career – why not this Easter Term?
