BREAKING: First case of coronavirus been confirmed in Nottingham

The first case of Coronavirus in Nottingham has been confirmed and takes the number of UK cases to 116.

The person had recently returned form South Korea but no further information about the patient has been released.

We can confirm that Nottingham has a resident who has tested positive for COVID-19.

We're working closely with the NHS and Public Health England.

The best advice is regular handwashing with soap & water and to call NHS 111 if you have concerns.

Alison Challenger, director of public health at Nottingham City Council, said the general risk to the public remained low.

A spokesman for Nottingham City Council said: “We can confirm that a Nottingham has a resident has tested positive for COVID-19.

“We’re working closely with the NHS and Public Health England on this.

“The best advice is regular hand-washing with soap & water and to call NHS 111 if you have concerns.”
