Exeter ranks 126th globally – out of almost 1,000 unis

In the Times Higher Education World Rankings released today, Exeter has ranked 126th out of 960 universities listed globally.
We’ve sadly fallen out of our slot in the Top 100 Universities of 2015/16 but remain in the impressive top 150.
Consequently, we’re placed as the 17th best uni in the UK, down three places from last year. While Bristol and Southampton are listed above Exeter, there’s still reason to smile as Leeds, York and Newcastle are ranked academically inferior.
The Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings, released yearly, are based on 13 indicators, drawing from a database of university performance metrics, with more than 150 separate data points on each of the 1,313 leading research universities in the world. This year’s rankings contain more universities than ever before from over 79 countries.

It’s website states ‘The THE World University Rankings are the only global university league tables to judge research-intensive universities across all of their core missions – teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.’
The top five places remain unchanged in the 2017 figures, with Oxford, Cambridge and Imperial leading the way.
