Southampton Really Is SEXY

A recent study by the retailer Lovehoney has placed students at the University of Southampton as the 7th biggest spenders on sex toys.

So, stop what you’re doing, drop your pens and call your loved ones. Hear their pride as you tell them that all that hard work you’re doing is fueled by your apparent “heightened interest in sex”.

The research showed Southampton students spending £3,484 so far this year on ‘sex toys and soft bondage’, with Cambridge topping the data with a whopping £9,793. Lovehoney, the self-proclaimed ‘sexual happiness people’, who specialise in sex toys and lingerie (Take Note: they’re also cheaper than Ann Summers) gathered the information by using Google Analytics to collect the details of purchases made from on-campus networks.

With 7 of the top 10 universities in the Russell Group, it’s obviously now being questioned whether us lot with higher IQs tend to have higher sex drives. Neal Slateford from Lovehoney released a statement saying that these results showed a

heightened interest in sex amongst students in the Russell Group of elite universities.

It’s no bad thing if brainier people are randier but we tend to find that everyone in the UK has become far more interested and relaxed about sex.

With the University of Southampton coming an embarrassing number 65 in last year’s Student Beans ‘University Sex League‘ – and with Lovehoney sales increasing by almost 40% since January – it may be safe to say that students could be gaining their own sexual satisfactions, within their work heavy time constraints (time constraints… bondage… anyone?).
