Women are officially freeing themselves from the shackles of their Trump-thumping partners

I’m not trying to be dramatic, but this is the best news I’ve heard since January 20th — more commonly referred to as “The Day The World Went Dark.” Incidentally, the same day President Trump took office. These two things may or may not be related.

Just two weeks after Trump’s 100th day in office, a new study from Wakefield Research found that one in 10 couples, married and unmarried, recently ended their relationships because of disagreements over President Trump.

Or what I choose to decipher as: New research found women have begun freeing themselves from the shackles of their Trump-thumping partners, and can finally begin living their best lives. And not to brag, but I saw this coming.

Elle Woods said it best, “If I’m going to be a partner in a law firm by the time I’m 30, I need a boyfriend who’s not such a complete bonehead.”

It’s interesting that the findings showed young people were more susceptible to this trend, splitting 22 percent of the time. But, with more and more young women getting college educated, and marrying later, it’s the perfect age for us to focus on ourselves and our careers — something we might not feel supported in while tied to them.

“Passionately opposing points of views are not only driving wedges between strangers and even friends, but marriages and relationships,” the study said.

And coming from a guy who said, “For a man to be successful, he needs support at home — not someone who is always griping and bitching,” it’s no wonder women are looking to people, and partners elsewhere.
