It’s campaign couture

Don’t tell Balenciaga creative director Demna Gvasalia that the election is, y’know, over because in our mind, Bernie won too.

To open Men’s Fashion Week in Paris, the Spain-based luxury clothier debuted a men’s line with one huge underlying theme: the 2016 Bernie Sanders campaign. Models were sent down the runway draped in oversized scarves, jumpers, and bombers all emblazoned with red, white and blue Balenciaga logos crafted in the shape of Bernie’s famous slogans from just a few months ago.

Let’s zoom in on a logo and compare it with Bernie’s. Here’s a close-up on a Balenciaga bomber:

And here’s Bernie’s campaign logo:

Has it really been less than a year since we entered this national nightmare? Because I literally can’t remember a time before it.

Logos aside, the entire collection seemed to be a nod to our nation’s beloved senator, include dirty white sneakers (so Bernie!), plaid shirts (v Vermont), and the rumpled khakis of literally every almost-octogenarian you know.

When CNN’s Jake Tapper asked Bernie if he considered himself a fashion icon, Senator Sanders replied, “Of my many attributes, being a great dresser or fashion maven is not one of them,”

Time to snap up the collection before 2020 on the off-chance (please, please, please) Bernie decides to run again.
