Attention: The York Tab is looking for new writers and we want you!
Our open meeting is in Spring Lane at 6pm on Monday 23rd September
Are you interested in writing? Fancy updating your CV? Or maybe you just wanna join a super fun team of journalists? Well, The York Tab is the one for you!
We will be holding our first open meeting next Monday 23rd September at 6pm in Spring Lane SLB/004. If you’re interested even the tiniest bit, come along and find out a bit more about us.
From breaking news on campus to fun guides like The 14 things no one tells you to prepare for when becoming a York student, the York Tab covers it all. Here’s everything you need to know:
What is The Tab?
The Tab is one of the biggest youth media sites in the UK and has branches at universities all across the country. Our articles reach a huge audience and, if you write for us, you’ll have the opportunity to write for both York and the national site, which has more than nine million readers per month!
Interesting things are always happening in York, and we write for both Uni of York and York St John students (as well as being written by students, of course!) Our Instagram has over 10,000 followers, meaning all articles are always well promoted across our platforms.
Some of our favourite recent articles include Greg James and BBC Radio 1 planning to come to campus, all the iconic alumni you didn’t know went to York, and the absolute essential guide for incoming freshers.

Why write for us?
Tab graduates have gone on to write for VICE, BBC, Vogue, BuzzFeed, The Times, ITV, The Guardian, The Independent, The Financial Times and more! Regardless of whether you decide to write two or 20 articles for us, The Tab offers an amazing opportunity to get your writing out there.
If this is your first time writing, it doesn’t matter! Our editorial team will work with you to improve your writing. Plus, the team work with an Assistant Editor based at the London HQ so it’s a great opportunity to learn more from experts.
Besides the CV perks, The York Tab is a great way to meet like-minded writers and make friends during your time at uni. Student life is at the heart of what we do, so everything is entirely flexible around work, deadlines and social lives. You can do as much or as little as you want!
So don’t forget – Spring Lane SLB/004 at 6pm on Monday 23rd September.
It’s all very chill, so just come along and meet us! If you have any more questions or can’t make it to the meeting, send us a DM on Insta. We’ll also be walking around at Freshers’ Fair too!
