It’s written in the stars: Here’s how the zodiac signs act on a York night out

Because the stars and planets obviously determine your behaviour in the club

Everyone has a zodiac sign (also commonly called a star sign) and your birthday determines which of the 12 signs is yours. According to astrology, your star sign has an impact on almost every aspect of your life; from your love life, to your academic vibes, to your money-making habits.

Therefore, it’s not surprising at all that your star sign has a considerable influence on your typical behaviour on a night out. It’s true. Whether you pull up in style in an Uber, or simply catch the bus to the club, your astrological sign dictates it all. Plus, the probability of whether you take a trip to the takeaway to get a kebab, pizza, or cheesy chips after dancing the night away is also influenced by your astrological sign.

Whether you’re a Scorpio or a Virgo, an Aries or a Pisces, think of this article as a kind of horoscope or crystal ball, foretelling how you will act on your next wild night out this Freshers’ Week. Even if you’re sceptical about the stars, or instead utterly devoted to your daily horoscope, here’s how each of the zodiac signs behave on a York night out. After all, it’s written in the stars…

Aries (21st March-19th April)

Bold and lively, an Aries clubber in York will be among the first on the dance floor. As a fire sign, their boldness illuminates the room and their charisma attracts people towards them in the club. Aries clubbers are confident and extroverted on a night out – especially after a few drinks!

An Aries clubber can either be found at the bar ordering their favourite drinks with friends, or boogieing the night away with their mates under the disco lights. After a night out, Aries clubbers head straight to the takeaway where they share a sixteen inch pizza with their new (and old) friends.

Taurus (20th April-20th May)

Dependable and loyal (like the earth) but stubborn, Tauruses are friends that you can rely on for a night out in York. Whether you’ve accidentally had one too many shots in Salvos, or you’ve wandered off to the smoking area with some randomer you were eyeing up at the bar and now can’t find your friends, have no fear. As a reliable earth sign, a Taurus will be there for you the entire night, offering you a shoulder to lean on or just hogging a toilet cubicle for a deep chat. This will be much to the annoyance of the bouncers and your fellow students queuing up for what seems like forever just to use a toilet for its intended purpose. Thanks, Taurus.

However, on a night out, a Taurus will always ask for something in return. They’ll be the ones calling the shots when the group has to decide whether to order a pizza or chips from the takeaway. After all, Tauruses are infamous for their stubbornness. After a night of drinking and dancing at the bar or club, it’s the Taurus way or the highway when it comes to the post-night-out takeaway trip.

Gemini (21st May-20th June)

Unsurprisingly, since the Gemini sign is mythological twins, Gemini clubbers are obsessed with twinning with their friends on a night out in York. Whether it’s matching outfits, rocking up to the club in the same Uber, or ordering the same drinks at the bar – Geminis absolutely love to twin with their besties.

When they aren’t busy twinning with their friends, you can find them mingling under the disco lights with fellow club-goers, as Geminis are very lively and extroverted. They are always down for a night out on the town.

After a night out in York, a Gemini clubber can be found in the takeaway, directly behind their bestie in the queue for ordering food. This is done deliberately, so they can order the exact same pizza as their best friend, with the exact same toppings that their bestie is about to devour. Even if they don’t think that pineapple belongs on pizza (they’re objectively wrong!), a Gemini will reluctantly stomach the Hawaiian dish just for the sake of matching their friend’s choice. All in all, Geminis like to take twinning to the next level.

Cancer (21st June-22nd July)

On a night out in York, a Cancer always looks out for their friends. They are selfless, loyal, and will ensure that you’re never left standing alone in the corner of the club, awkwardly bobbing along to the beat of Backstreet Boys or S Club 7 in Flares.

Cancers are all about keeping calm and having fun (in reference to the famous British motto). Easygoing and spontaneous, a Cancer clubber simply goes with the flow, quite similar to Taurus, Libra, and Aquarius clubbers. They’re great to go clubbing with as their presence is so relaxed and cheerful that any stress lingering from a day of seminars, studying, and impending deadlines is instantly relieved. On a visit to the club, pub or bar with a Cancer, you’re guaranteed an enjoyable, carefree night out.

And because Cancer clubbers are so friendly and chilled-out, even in the midst of a packed dance floor and long queues at the bar, they still manage to attract new friends to the group. Win win!

Leo (23rd July-22nd August)

As the Leo sign is represented in astrology by the bold and feisty lion, you can recognise a Leo clubber on a night out by their uncontrollable energy and charisma. Like Aries and Scorpio, they’re among the first on the dance floor and their bold presence fills any club, bar or pub that they set foot in. Can’t quite get to the bar to order a shot and boost your confidence? No worries! Your Leo mate will be right by your side, dependably prepped with a pep talk to get you ready to hit the dance floor.

Because of their extroverted personality and carefree outlook on life, much like Cancer and Virgo, Leos are popular among their fellow club-goers. They truly are charming, and if you’re lucky enough, they might even magically find you someone in the club. Just make sure to compensate them afterwards by offering to pay for their pizza, kebab, or taxi home. While your bank account won’t thank you, your Leo mate (and your sanity) certainly will.

Virgo (23rd August-22nd September)

Renowned for their approachable demeanour and friendly nature, a Virgo clubber loves socialising at the bar on a night out in York. Like Aries and Cancer, their extroverted personality attracts both new and old friends.

A Virgos relaxed and carefree personality ensures that everyone in the group has an enjoyable night out, regardless of whether you’re stressed about an essay, relationship, or that impending deadline for your diss. The happy-go-lucky energy of your Virgo mate is contagious, and spending time socialising and dancing the night away with them is sure to melt all of your worries and doubts away. Virgos are the embodiment of Bobby McFerrin’s beloved motto: “don’t worry, be happy”.

If you can’t seem to find a Virgo chatting to new people and making friends at the bar, you’ll most likely find them surrounded by their new pals in the nearest takeaway, a similarity shared with the pizza lover Aries in the corner. At heart, Virgos are social butterflies and the club is where they truly thrive.

Libra (23rd September-22nd October)

Just like the balanced scales that represent their star sign, a Libra is a balanced individual in every way possible. There is no exception made to this rule when a Libra ventures out into the vibrant nightlife of York.

Libra clubbers are sUber-organised (excuse the terrible pun). They’re the ones that order the Uber during pres and hurry everyone outside 10 minutes before the pickup time because they’re a little too obsessed with their rating on the app. Once they’re inside the club, they balance their time perfectly to avoid the huge queues at the bar from midnight onwards. Post-night out, you’ll likely find a Libra clubber ordering a kebab or a small chips in the takeaway, with the Uber magically appearing outside at just the right time.

Libras possess organisational skills so great that their planning moves beyond the academics of uni and permeates the bars, pubs and clubs that they set foot in. Even though Libra clubbers are perhaps a little too sensible on a night out, like Capricorns, they’re reliable and will always ensure that everyone is home safely at the end of the night.

Scorpio (23rd October-21st November)

The prediction of a Scorpio’s behaviour on a night out in York might be slightly biased. I am a Scorpio (and I’m proud of it!)

Despite the brooding, mysterious reputation of their star sign, Scorpio clubbers in York are notorious for their uncanny ability to completely and utterly let loose on a night out. Even though the average horoscope-reader might believe that a Scorpio clubber lurks in the darkest corner of the club, aloof and alone, I’m about to debunk that as a mere astrological myth. I’m a proud Scorpio (did I mention that already?) and I absolutely love dancing my heart out under the disco lights. It’s a trait that all of us fun-loving Scorpios truly seem to share.

In summary, once a Scorpios in the club, you simply can’t stop them. There’s nothing Scorpios love more than a boogie to all types of music. While their secretive and reserved reputation might precede them, I’m here to tell you that it’s most probably incorrect.

Sagittarius (22nd November-21st December)

A free-spirited Sagittarius loves to go out out. Sagittarius clubbers love nothing more than a huge, colourful, crazy night out in York. They’re the ones advocating for a mega bar crawl before hitting the club: Pres at someone’s house, Stone Roses, Dusk, and then two more bars before hitting one of York’s student nightclubs.

At every stop on the way to the club, they’re badgering the group about how it’s an unwritten but official rule to get a drink at every single bar. Lethal but fun. Before they’ve even made it to the club, a Sagittarius has probably downed at least six drinks already (and that’s just the beginning of their escapades). Once they’re on the dancef loor, it’s practically impossible to tame a Sagittarius. Their true weakness is wild nights of dancing and partying.

Capricorn (22nd December-19th January)

Capricorn clubbers are notorious for their practicality on a night out. They’re all about saving money. Capricorns will always opt for the cheapest transport option – even if said transport option is late and insanely noisy as students sing college chants. Once they’ve made it into town, they’ll spend minimal money on drinks and takeaway food throughout the night for two reasons: To save money and to keep themselves sober enough to get the frozen oven chips cooking when they get home. One thing a Capricorn will not do is fall asleep and leave the hob on!

On nights out in York, Capricorns are sensible but still normally have the best time ever. They let loose and have fun, but are always aware of what they’ve got to do in the morning. Plus, just like the rest of us, they’re broke uni students and they know it. Self-aware queens x

Aquarius (20th January-18th February)

On a night out in York, an Aquarius clubber uses their quick thinking and cleverness to the group’s advantage, much like fellow Taurus clubbers. Whether someone’s had one too many shots at the bar, or someone’s phone has died before they were able to use their bus ticket, Aquarius always comes up with a solution to any and all problems that might arise on a night out.

Forgotten your phone and left it at pres by mistake? Your Aquarius friend will let you share theirs throughout the night, making sure that plenty of hilarious photos are snapped. Feeling a little queasy after that shot of vodka? Your Aquarius mate will venture with you into the drunken crowdedness of the loos to make sure you’re ok. Can’t book a taxi home? Your Aquarius pal will call one for you and wait patiently on the curb outside until it arrives.

In short, you can always count on a reliable and generous Aquarius to stay by your side the whole night.

Pisces (19th February-20th March)

Adaptable and emotional, a Pisces clubber likes to plan their nights out in York to the minute. In fact, they like to plan every last detail of their night, from whether they’ll be catching the bus into town or ordering a taxi, to what topping they’ll be having on their takeaway chips at the end of the night (cheese beats gravy all the way!). Pisces clubbers are the complete opposite of Cancer club-goers, who love spontaneity and going with the flow. However, just like Cancers, Pisces are renowned for their selflessness.

In all seriousness, despite their planning, a Pisces can genuinely adapt to any situation. They’re like chameleons: In the local student pub, they’re just as loud and sociable as everyone else. Once they’ve set foot in a refined, high-end bar, however, their demeanour has effortlessly shifted to one of sophistication and maturity in a split second. It’s a bit scary really. Even though the Pisces sign is represented in astrology by the two fish, it would probably be more accurate for a Pisces clubber in York to be represented by the reptilian chameleon.

So there you have it, a prediction of how each zodiac sign will behave on their next night out. Which star sign are you? Do you think that your prediction will prove accurate? Will you conform to the astrological expectations of your sign, or will you prove to be even more wild than the actual night out? Only time (and maybe the stars) will tell…
