Edinburgh’s Royal Mile goes back in time as Netflix adaptation of Frankenstein begins filming
A star studded cast has decended on Scotland, including Jacob Elordi and Christopher Waltz
Edinburgh’s Royal Mile has been transformed by film crews working on Netflix’s upcoming adaptation of Mary Shelley’s classic, Frankenstein.
A video of the road was shared online, where carts and old market stalls have been erected for movie set in the 18th century.
Edinburgh City Council has said that filming is expected to take place in the area until Saturday, September 14th with other filming locations including St Giles Street and High Street from Tuesday, September 10th.

The video pans round to show the set in front of Edinburgh’s historic architecture and is captioned: “The Netflix remake of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein is being filmed all over Scotland this year. The set has spring up on the Royal Mile.”
Del Toro’s adaptation of the classic Gothic thriller has assembled a star studded cast including Saltburnstar Jacob Elordi, Moon Knight actor Oscar Isaac, and Mia Goth, who most recently led horror sequel MaXXXine.
Mia Goth’s husband, Shia LeBeouf, has also been spotted in Edinburgh and has been filmed being involved in a late night altercation with a group of locals in Edinburgh.
Filming for the new movie has taken place across Scotland including Dunecht House in Aberdeenshire and Hospitalfield House in Arbroath as well as Glasgow Cathedral.
The films stars have been spotted across Scotland as well as Shia LeBeouf who was spotted dining in various Glasgow eateries while Inglorious Bastards star and cast member Christopher Waltz was spotted at an Old Firm game.
