Bougie! These are officially the best uni accommodations in 2024, according to TikTok

Completely and utterly jealous right now

Let’s be honest, one of the worst things about uni is the accommodation. It’s so bad that it’s good. You’ll dish up hundreds of pounds a month to live in a box room prone to mould and dodgy fire alarms – it’s all part of the experience I suppose. Even though TikTok loves to show the horror stories of uni accom (like that viral video showing a huge leak from a flat ceiling), some lucky people actually have it really good with their accommodation. After scrolling through rankings, advice, and aesthetic videos: Here’s the TikTok verified list of the best uni accommodations, according to TikTok.

Mylnes Court, University of Edinburgh

Reply to @emilia_acuti this is the view from mylnes court at the university of edinburgh!

Possibly the most Instagrammable student accom of all time. Edinburgh students who live in Mylnes Court have hit the ultimate jackpot with gorgeous views, classic Edinburgh architecture, and the cutest cosy rooms. This has to be the most perfect spot for Autumn.

Students from other uni’s are in the comments saying it “physically hurts” to see videos of this accommodation, and those not at uni are commenting “I want to study there so bad”. I think the best one is “I’M GONNA CRY, THIS IS MY DREAM”.

University College, Durham University

@joslaloh

Imagine going to Uni and this was your accommodation… 🏰 📍Durham Castle This 11th century castle is now home to students of Durham University 🎓 #durham #england #unitedkingdom #uk #university #castle #travel #traveltiktok

So this accommodation is actually a castle… like the students live in the castle. Need I say much more? University College, known as Castle, is the original first college in Durham, founded in 1832! TikTok is calling it Hogwarts, a storybook lifestyle, and just literally beautiful.

“Omg best college ever” is the top comment on The Durham Student’s TikTok tour of University College (Castle).

Cripps Hall, University of Nottingham

While the rooms here are quite dated, the building itself is actually really cool. There’s a load of videos on TikTok from Notts students who absolutely love their Cripps accom, and that’s the thing that matters. There’s a big library and dining hall, both of which look a lot older than they actually are. It’s giving Henry VIII. There really is nothing better than eating your catered meal in a banquet hall x

Also, Nottingham’s Nightingale Hall was ranked third in the Times Higher Education ranking of the best university halls in the UK – but it doesn’t seem as popular with students on TikTok as Cripps is.

St Salvator’s Hall, University of St Andrews

via Google Maps

St Salvator’s Hall has been labelled as the poshest UK university hall on TikTok this year, a video referencing a Cosmopolitan article from 2018 that also placed St Salvator at the number one spot. This student accom is known for its gorgeous building with intricate interiors and beautiful stained-glass windows. Apparently this is where Prince William and Kate Middleton met!

Grizedale College, Lancaster University

Grizedale accommodation at Lancaster ranked seventh on the Times Higher Education list, giving Durham and St Andrews a run for their money…

The college has a range of rooms, all toured on TikTok, as well as self contained studios (they’re literally huge!) Real luxury over at Lancaster.

Charles Morris, University of Leeds

The rooms in Charles Morris may look fairly average, but with a newly built building and two others recently refurbished, this residence is insanely popular with Leeds students. There are common rooms, double beds, TVs, and plenty outdoor areas. TikTok is filled with cute videos of Charles Morris rooms, but advice videos say that it is pretty expensive.

Park Terrace, Newcastle University

If you’ve been given a place in Park Terrace (or are hoping to in the future), here’s a quick tour to help you know what to expect! reslife newcastle newcastleuni #parkterrace

“Love you forever Park Terrace”. Emotional TikToks everywhere. In the comments, people asking for advice about Newcastle accom are told that Park Terrace is in a perfect location, with good size rooms and newly renovated kitchens. Highly recommended all around. Also, apparently the tiny bedside tables are iconic.

Talybont Gate, Cardiff University

Taly Gate is ranked number one here, probably just because it’s closest to big Tesco and Maccies. TikTok says that it’s not that lively, but as the whole of Cardiff’s Talybont accom is the most popular, it can’t be far from some fun. Even though it’s the furthest from Cardiff central, the quality of the facilities and flats clearly makes it worth it to those ranking it on TikTok.

Holland Hall, University of Exeter

Holland Hall is undoubtedly the best uni accommodations according to TikTok, but it’s also very much linked to mullets and private schools. Exeter students claim that Holland Hall is clinging to it’s reputation as being quite posh, or at least filled with posh students.

Holland Hall has pretty average rooms but has multiple huge social spaces, an amazing view over Exeter, and is right next to the campus gardens.

Churchill Hall, University of Bristol

via Google Maps

The rooms in Churchill Hall seem quite open and spacious (it might just be the white walls). Room sizes vary, but some of the bigger ones are genuinely amazing. There’s so much space! Plus, it’s literally right next to the uni’s botanical gardens, perfect for a mid-study sesh mental health walk. The building is a bit of an eye sore though…

Christ Church, University of Oxford

The fact that students actually live here is amazing. Many people who visit Oxford still don’t believe that there are real students here and not just Harry Potter characters. Christ Church College is recognisable to many as a filming spot for multiple scenes in Hogwarts, and recognisable to others as home. Of course, this just means that beyond the Harry Potter TikToks, there are students having a laugh at the reality of life at Oxford. Just see the above video – insane.

St John’s College, University of Cambridge

@historyandbooks

Established in 1511, it’s considered one of the best colleges in Cambridge. #stjohnscollege #cambridgeuniversity

♬ Ameno Amapiano Remix (You Wanna Bamba) – Goya Menor & Nektunez

Again, no explanation needed. St John’s College is the one with the famous Bridge of Sighs, which only students are allowed to cross (very cool). Visitors actually have to pay to even get into the college and look at the buildings, as well as only being able to view the bridge from afar. It’s like UNiDAYS discount vibes but Cambridge tourist edition. Superiority complex (and a degree) incoming.

Vale Village, University of Birmingham

Out of all the best uni accommodations on TikTok, this huge student accom is described as “lakeside living” on the uni’s website. Sounds like luxury to me. I’m sold. The Vale Village is a 15 minute walk to Birmingham’s campus, but with views and parks like that – who even cares? Plus, the village has its own supermarket, bar, lounge, study spaces and whatever else a Birmingham student could want.

Unsworth Park, University of Manchester

It’s modern, it’s clean, it’s an ensuite. Gorgeous. You can tell that it’s one of the most expensive Manchester accoms, but TikTok truly loves an aesthetic room. It’s giving adult city living as a chaotic student x
