The Olympics has already been one hell of a show and birthed some the most iconic main characters of the year: The muffin man, the pole vaulter and the Turkish shooter to name a few. Amidst these big names, there was a lot of other news and fun facts that you might have missed. Here’s a rundown of the best unbelievable moments and facts from the Paris 2024 Olympics you might not have known before the iconic games began.
Breakdancing is now officially an Olympic sport
Yes, breakdancing has now been officially inaugurated into the Olympics! You can catch it on Friday the 9th of August.
The youngest athlete in Paris was born in 2012: The year of the London Olympics

Her name is HaoHao Zeng and she competed in women’s skateboarding for China at just 11 years old. She didn’t advance to the finals, but needless to say, her participation was enough to impress!
Unsurprisingly, the surfing isn’t taking place in Paris
It’s actually happening in Tahiti in the French Polynesia, which is closer to New Zealand than it is to Paris!
The USA gymnastics team has a therapy dog
And he’s just so adorable! His name is Beacon and he is the emotional support dog for the Paris 2024 Olympics team (and my favourite one of these facts), but also works full time being the goodest boy.
