Here’s what sadly happens to Addam of Hull and Seasmoke in House of the Dragon books
Get the tissues ready
In the most recent episode of House of the Dragon, we see Seasmoke and Addam of Hull bond as Seasmoke determinedly sets his sights on making sure Addam becomes his dragonrider. It’s clear they already share a very close bond with each other and both of them will play an important role in the future success of Rhaenyra’s fight against Kings Landing.
But this is House of the Dragon after all, and if the track record is anything to go by then there’s a good chance you’ll meet a sticky end if you’re a dragonrider. So, with that in mind here’s what sadly ends up happening to Addam of Hull and Seasmoke in the House of the Dragon books. If you don’t want to read any spoilers then make sure you stop reading now!

Seasmoke and Addam take part in the brutal Battle of the Gullet against the Triarchy where Jace and his dragon sadly die. Luckily, Seasmoke and Addam manage to escape and they are tasked with protecting Kings Landing during Rhaenyra’s temporary takeover of the capital. However, his loyalty starts to be questioned and Rhaenyra commands that Addam be arrested despite him doing nothing wrong but he manages to escape on Seasmoke.

Unable to return to the capital, Addam wants to prove his loyalty and trustworthiness to Rhaenyra once and for all. He decides to attack a place called Tumbleton, a major stronghold for the Greens and he gathers almost four thousand men to fight with him. As they attack at night it takes the Greens completely by surprise and they manage to take out two of their key dragonriders.
Unfortunately, the huge dragon Vermithor became enraged when he became riderless and started killing pretty much everyone on the ground, regardless of whether they were Green or Black. Seasmoke and Addam attempted to stop him by landing on him and started fighting to the death. In one of the saddest House of the Dragon deaths, Seasmoke is killed when Vermithor rips his head off and Addam of Hull is also killed in the impact.
After the carnage of battle, both Seasmoke and Vermithor’s remains become a tourist attraction at Tumbleton and Addam’s epitaph reads only: “LOYAL.” Addam of Hull ultimately saves Kings Landing for Rhaenyra but at the cost of his own life.
