Everyone has the same thing to say about Kim Kardashian’s resurfaced song
Since when did she record music?!
Something of a pop culture curveball comes our way this summer as people have unearthed a song Kim Kardashian recorded. Few moments are as delightfully bizarre and oddly iconic as Kim’s foray into music. Over a decade ago, long before she was studying for the bar or appearing in a Netflix legal drama, Kim stepped into the studio and gave us some vocals. It was breathy. It was auto-tuned. It was peak 2010. And now, thanks to some Reddit sleuths, the song and its music video have made a very unexpected comeback.
‘Jam’ resurfaces, and so do the memories
The internet is literally buzzing as footage from Kim’s long-lost Jam music video (directed by Hype Williams, no less) popped back up. A Redditor found out about the song’s existence and simply wrote: “Who knew she had a song?? lmfaoo,” while another quipped: “Oh, we know.” On more Reddit threads discussing the tune, someone wrote: “Kim Kardashian’s Jam (Turn It Up) should’ve won Song of the Year at the 53rd Grammys and we should all show respect for it.”
Jam was originally released in 2011, produced by The-Dream and Tricky Stewart, the duo behind Rihanna’s Umbrella. Kim was reportedly nervous to sing, and it kinda shows in the soft-spoken, whispery vocals. But that’s part of its charm. In hindsight, it’s not trying to be good, it’s trying to be Kim. And as one Redditor so accurately put it: “I’m glad she didn’t stick to singing. Love Kim, but this wasn’t her calling.”
To be fair, Kim herself has said she doesn’t consider herself a singer. In a later interview, she admitted the song was for fun and that she donated the proceeds to charity. But the internet doesn’t care. The reappearance of this glitchy, glitter-soaked bop has people actually begging for more.
Is It Time for a Kim K Pop Comeback?
Hear me out, what if Kim actually did return to music, but this time leaned fully into the absurdity? No half-hearted performance, no overly serious production, just a self-aware, TikTok-worthy anthem. Imagine a 2025 remix of Jam?!
Reddit seems to agree. “I enjoyed the track and wish we would have gotten more from her but it seem it didn’t do as well as thought so they decided not to go further,” wrote one person.
Another said: “Is it bad that I miss this era?” More came for the song’s album cover, writing: “That cover art looks like it was made in a very old version of Microsoft Word.”
Despite some people missing the naughties tune, Kim didn’t continue down the music path. But, never say never. She wouldn’t be the first Kardashian-Jenner to rebrand something cringe into something iconic. A modern re-release of Jam with a wink to the past would be the ultimate flex, in fact, the internet would probably eat it up.
