Everybunny up: Here are the best things to do this Easter weekend in Cardiff
The best things alongside eating loads of chocolate
The four day Easter weekend has landed, lectures are (temporarily) a distant memory, and Cardiff students are currently split into two very different storylines: those who’ve gone home for wholesome family time… and those still in accoms living off vibes, leftovers, and whatever’s in the freezer.
Whichever one you are, there are so many things you can get up to this exciting weekend.
1. Bute Park

This summer Bute Park will as always become everyone’s new personality. The second the sun even suggests making an appearance, the entire city will be outside. Pints will be out, sunglasses will be on (even if it’s cloudy), and speakers will be blasting.
This isn’t strict for Cardiff so those of you at home can go to your local park but in a uni city like Cardiff nothing is better than a day in the park and a pint in The Woody pub garden after.
2. Cardiff Bay
Cardiff Bay is a classic when you don’t know where to go. A stroll by the water and some good food with the seagulls will make it feel like a holiday away from home. It’s a nice getaway from the city and will help you relax and destress over this amazingly long weekend.
Brunch
Now let’s talk brunch, because if you’re not posting at least one aesthetically pleasing plate this weekend, did the bank holiday even happen? Whether you’re catching up with friends or just treating yourself for surviving the term, this is your sign to go slightly over budget and maybe do that bottomless brunch you’ve been wanting to try. Some favourites include Pink Kiwi and The Haystack.
Egg Hunting
Feeling chaotic? Host an Easter egg hunt in your flat. Hide chocolate in increasingly unhinged places and watch your friends turn feral over a £1.50 egg. It’s low effort, high entertainment, and honestly… quite competitive. Of course, chocolate is non-negotiable. Whether it’s a luxury egg, a last-minute supermarket grab, or the stash your parents “accidentally” bought too much of, Easter calories simply don’t count. That’s just science.
Barry Island

Hopefully this weekend the Welsh weather will be on your side and you can take a trip to Barry Island. Relax on the beach, go on the rollercoasters in Barry Pleasure Park and get an ice cream with friends. You’ll make amazing memories and tick of a point on your Cardiff Uni to-do list.
Finally, let’s not forget the most important plan of all: doing absolutely nothing. Rewatch your comfort show and ignore your emails. You’ve earned it. And for those who celebrate Easter in a more traditional way, heading to a church service is also a meaningful way to spend the weekend.
