Selling Sunset star Emma Hernan reveals the moment she thought her empanada empire was over

I won’t lie, I’m slightly obsessed with Emma Hernan and her empanada business on Selling Sunset, there’s something about it that’s very iconic.

However, it turns out that she almost had to shut the whole thing down when the business first started.

She revealed the moment in an interview with CSQ, explaining: “One major setback that I dealt with that had me feeling completely defeated was early on when I started my business and I received a huge order from one of the largest retailers in the country, but I didn’t have my licensing deal completed with a plant-based meat yet.

“The order was canceled and I thought I wouldn’t get another chance with that retailer because I couldn’t fulfill the order.

“I was heartbroken, but instead of giving up, I reached out to so many people to try and get in contact with Beyond Meat because they were the best in the plant-based space.

“I ended up signing the licensing deal with them and getting a new order from that same retailer and my empanadas sold out!”

Emma Hernan also went into further detail about her empanada empire during an appearance on Money Rehab with Nicole Lapin where the Selling Sunset start delved into all the nitty details.

She explained that all the recipes are ones she came up with herself, explaining: “The food industry is my baby, I’m super passionate about it.

“I also really love to cook so all the recipes that are mine, I actually created them. I think there’s something special about that.”

Emma also revealed that her manufacturing factory is worth around $6 million as a result of her investing heavily in upgrading it.

As for whether the Selling Sunset star would ever sell her empanada business, Emma Hernan revealed: “I actually have gotten an offer, and I turned it down.

“I wouldn’t say that I wouldn’t be open to selling by any means but right now I’m building it and I basically just launched Coast To Coast and I’m already getting into the top stores in the US, so right now isn’t the right time to sell.”
