Erm, the Daily Mail has proclaimed these 20 UK unis the ‘wokest’ in the country
I reckon it’s a good sign if your uni made the cut x
Guys, the Daily Mail has legit published a ranking of the “wokest” unis in the UK. I am not making this up.
The “wokeness ranking” is based on research from the right-wing think tank Civitas. The organisation scanned materials from 140 UK unis for terms such as “trigger warnings”, “white privilege” and “anti-racism”, then used that information to compile a “Radical Progressiveness University Guide”. God forbid a university show a smidge of consideration for anyone who is not a white cis straight man!
The Daily Mail argues that the woke unis have “plunged” in The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide. It points out that all but one of the top five unis in the “woke” ranking have gone down in The Times’s league tables since 2021. Although, if you look beyond the top five, you’ll see 11 out of the 20 most “woke” unis were ranked a bit lower this year than they were in 2021. That’s an extremely average amount.
UCL, which is fourth in the “woke ranking”, was actually celebrated as “Runner-up, University of the Year” in the Daily Mail’s own university guide this year. The Daily Mail also awarded the University of Bristol – number three in the “woke ranking” – with “Research University of the Year”. So, these “woke” unis can’t have gone too downhill, then.

Oxbridge are apparently the wokest unis in the UK. Sure. The Daily Mail bashed Oxbridge for flopping in The Times’s ranking this year, and suggested “declining standards” could be due to “woke tyranny”. Although, it doesn’t seem that the University of Cambridge and the University of Oxford‘s wokeness has led to their doom just yet, because the Daily Mail still ranked them as the second and the third best unis in the UK last month.

The 900-year-old and 800-year-old unis aren’t exactly known for their modernity…
So then, here are the 20 UK unis that the Daily Mail is bashing for being the “wokest”:
