You can finally mix your Spotify playlists with the new feature, and this is how to do it
The feature is only available for premium users
So, Spotify has rolled out a brand-new feature that might completely change how you use playlists. Until now, they’ve just been static lists, one song after another. But not anymore.
With the new Spotify playlist mix tool, you can control how songs transition, change the EQ, adjust the volume between tracks, and even make them flow seamlessly like an actual DJ set. Basically, playlists aren’t just playlists anymore. They’re mixes.
The feature is only available for premium users, and it comes with the latest Spotify update. And yes, it means your go-to playlists can now sound like a club night, without you leaving your sofa.
Spotify says certain genres will sound better than others, such as house, techno, and anything electronic. Also it recommends keeping songs with similar tempos and keys together for the best results.
So, here’s how to use Spotify’s new playlist mix feature

via Spotify
If you want to start mixing your playlists, here’s what to do:
- Open a playlist you already have (or create a new one)
- Look for the new mix button at the top
- Tap it, then either:
- Hit “auto” for an instant DJ-style blend, or
- Customise your mix and create unique transitions that fit your style
- When customising, choose a preset like “Fade” or “Rise” to easily apply different transition styles
- Experiment with specific settings for volume, EQ, and effects, and use the waveform and beat data to find the best spot in each track for your transition
- Once you’re happy, save the mix
- If you want, allow other premium users to edit the mix too
- You can also toggle the mix on and off at any time by pressing the “mix” button

Spotify also added some fun touches. You can now design your own custom cover art for mixed playlists, complete with exclusive stickers and labels you can’t get anywhere else.
So if you’ve ever dreamed of having playlists that flow as smoothly as your favourite DJ set, this is your chance.
