‘I was definitely disturbed’: Lana Del Rey gives more context on her drama with Ethel Cain

The Lana Del Rey and Ethel Cain drama has been an eruption of beef no one had expected to be coming, even though there was some suggestion of friction between the two in the past. Over the past 24 hours, Lana Del Rey released a video on Instagram containing a snippet of her upcoming track 13 on her next album, with the song now rumoured to be called All About Ethel. In it, she is seemingly directly shading Ethel Cain – and then Ethel announced earlier that Lana had blocked her on Instagram. And over the past couple of hours, Lana Del Rey has explained even further why she’s unhappy with Ethel Cain in a brand new Instagram comment giving more context to the drama.

Lana’s latest comment really does not shy away from the drama

After news outlets began reporting on the initial story of drama between Ethel Cain and Lana Del Rey in the wake of Lana’s video, Lana Del Rey commented directly to give more context about why in her view she’s unhappy with Ethel right now.

Lana Del Rey claims “I didn’t know who Ethel was until a few years ago — when someone brought to my attention the disturbing and graphic side-by-side images she would often put up of me next to unflattering creatures and cartoon characters making constant comments about my weight, I was confused at what she was getting at. Then when I heard what she was saying behind closed doors from mutual friends and started inserting herself into my personal life I was definitely disturbed.”

Ethel Cain is yet to respond to any of these allegations from Lana, but she did post previously that Lana had blocked her on Instagram.

Before Lana Del Rey today clarified more context around the Ethel Cain drama, most assumed the saga was to do with Jack Donoghue – as the lyrics in the new song refer to a bit of drama about the pair of them taking cosy pics with him. Lana Del Rey officially is his ex girlfriend. The lyrics of the new song say “Ethel Cain hated my Instagram post / Think it’s cute reenacting my Chicago pose”.

Ethel Cain is yet to respond to any of the claims Lana has said since the drama kicked off this morning.
