Love Island winner moans ‘it’s just hit me’ as he returns to day job amid money troubles
‘Everything we’ve got to pay is worrying’
Nathan Massey has been applauded for being “relatable” after he revealed that he’d returned to his former day job from before winning Love Island.
Though it’s not a given, Love Island has launched many an influencer career. Molly-Mae Hague is now worth a staggering £6 million, Olivia Attwood is now on daytime TV, and even this year’s winner, Toni Laites, is gearing up to launch her own spin-off show. Unfortunately, not everyone is afforded the lavish lifestyle that has become synonymous with the show.
Nathan and Cara de la Hoyde, who won season two of the show back in 2016, should be the poster children of Love Island as one of the few couples still together. Despite that, it’s not exactly made them millionaires.

In an Instagram post over the weekend, Nathan confessed in the caption: “Rant alert …. We are all really getting our pants pulled down and all I can do is laugh … worrying times.”
In the attached video, he ranted about the level of taxation he’d recieved. To better keep up with the “dark” times, he had returned to work as a carpenter in his free time.
“It’s just hit me how much tax that we are paying. Like, don’t get me wrong, we do okay, we’re not multi-millionaires by any stretch of the imagination, I wish I were, but we’re not, we do OK,” he said.
“I’m back on the tools, I work on the tools when I can, when we’re not doing our bits on social media, etc, and it’s just hit me how much we are getting taxed, and the VAT and everything we’ve got to pay is worrying.”

The clip, which has since recieved nearly 10k likes, was sparked after a visit from the accountant.
“Genuinely, how is anyone in this day and age supposed to get ahead of the game? It’s like, catch up, catch up, catch up. You know, it’s really a dark timing in in our history. I think it’s wowed me, I’m not gonna lie,” he added.
