Real reason Islanders look the same is revealed, as Love Island admits to using tool in casting

It all makes sense now

You know there’s that ongoing joke that people who go on Love Island all look the same? Well it turns out Love Island has recently been using an AI tool during the casting process, and that could be the answer behind the trend.

This year, loads of the Islanders have been compared to people who were on the show before. Harry looks exactly like Tom Clare, Megan was compared to Maura Higgins and Helena is the spitting image of Ellie Spence from series nine. Also, has anyone seen Tommy and Sean Stone in the same room? There are so many.

Now, bosses of the show have admitted that AI has helped them pick their perfect Islanders in the casting process for recent years. Is this the reason?

Boss Carolyn McCall said: “We will use AI in any way we can to make what we do more efficient. Studios used it for Love Island and casting this year, and the team rated it eight out of ten.”

The team clarified AI didn’t have the final call on casting decisions, but it did assist with handling audition footage, and narrowing down the search for the cast.

So, does this basically mean AI is choosing who makes a perfect Islander? I’ll admit, I’m a little scared.

This comes as it’s been revealed two of the Islanders this year were part of the casting process for different series too. Speaking to The Tab ahead of the show, the original Islanders spilled more about what the application process was like for them. And it turns out, a couple have been trying to get on the show for ages. Maybe if the AI had picked them up sooner, they’d have stood a better chance!
