Outrageous woman refuses to pay for beauty treatment because she’s an ‘influencer’

She only had 700 followers!

A British lash tech has gone viral after one of her customers totally refused to pay for her beauty treatment because she claimed she was an ‘influencer’.

Lauren O’Connor shared the story on TikTok, explaining that she booked the girl in for a set of classic lashes and a brow wax, and nothing seemed abnormal.

She agreed to pay the £50 beforehand (which is cheap anyway) and was “lovely” during the appointment. Afterwards, she asked to wait for her boyfriend to pick her up.

“I was like yeah that’s fine no problem, and she started rummaging through her bag. She ends up pulling a selfie light out and starts taking pictures of her lashes,” the beautician explained.

She didn’t think anything of it because it’s normal for people to take pictures in front of the flower wall in the salon, but she still hadn’t paid.

“I went ‘Are you doing cash or card’ and she went ‘What?’. I went, ‘Are you paying with cash or card?’ She said ‘What do you mean?’ I went ‘For your lashes and your eyebrows’.”

The woman outrageously said: “Why would I need to pay? I’ve just taken my pictures. I’m an influencer. I’ve just taken my pictures for you. What do you mean that I’ve got to pay?”

Lauren was in actual disbelief that she thought a few pictures and an Instagram Story were payment for the treatments, but decided to be nice and negotiate.

She asked how many followers the person has, and her response was truly hilarious. She said she has 700 followers on Instagram. Not 700k. 700.

“I don’t know when this is going to stop being an excuse to not pay,” the lash tech said. “You’re going on to me like you’re Molly-Mae.”

“Why would I just say to some random person that I barely know, that I didn’t know to be an influencer, why would I just let you have a free set of lashes and brows?”

The fake ‘influencer’ was absolutely fuming and got her Instagram and TikTok profiles up to try and plead her case. However, the beautician wasn’t having it, and she eventually paid.

People are totally outraged in the comments, with one person writing: “This ‘influencer’ culture is getting beyond a joke. Nothing free in this world.”

“Would she walk into Tesco and expect to walk out with £50 worth of items if she took a photo of the shopping?” asked another.

A third person added: “No way on this earth would I EVER assume that I wouldn’t need to pay because of an amount of followers that I’ve got.” The audacity!
