An expert dishes the dirt on the first Love Island 2025 couples and they didn’t hold back!

‘This couple, in my opinion, has little to no chance of lasting’

We’ve just been introduced to the first couples on Love Island 2025. There was an initial coupling, before bombshell Toni arrived and threw that all into chaos. She stole Ben, who then left Shakira single. Shakira then grafted with Harry, who dumped Sophie and sent her packing. And yes, all of this has been within two days.

But now, we finally have our first couples. They haven’t really had much to go by with making their decisions, but we’ve seen them cracking on as the villa antics get underway.

So, who is well matched? Who might be swayed? Relationship expert Jacob Lucas, in association with Fruity King, has shared all with The Tab, and he didn’t hold back with his thoughts. Here’s what he had to say about the first Love Island 2025 couples.

Toni and Ben

It doesn’t look awful for bombshell Toni, and Ben. But, Jacob doesn’t think we have a set of winners on our hands. He said: “Toni and Ben have a more physical connection than an emotional bond right now. I don’t think they’re personalities are well aligned, and they could clash quite easily. I can see both of them having their heads turned when someone more suited to them comes along.”

Meg and Dejon

Jacob noted that Dejon has been one of the biggest red flags of the show so far. That’s because he went over to Shakira and expressed an interest in her, before returning to Meg and saying she had nothing to worry about.

“Meg and Dejon aren’t the strongest couple right now,” Jacob added. “We can’t see much of a strong attraction between them currently, which could be due to them still getting to know each other a bit more. I think they’ll stay together for now, but I can’t see them staying as a couple for a long time.”

Shakira and Harry

What about new couple Shakira and Harry? “When Shakira and Harry sat down to have a conversation, they expressed their attraction for one another,” Jacob told The Tab. “She chose Harry out of the other boys, too, so it’s clear she’s following her emotions. I think there is a potential for a spark to form over the next few days or even weeks. It will be a case of getting to know each other on a deeper level that goes beyond physical attraction.”

Helena and Conor

If you were starting to warm towards Helena and Conor, maybe look away now. “This couple, in my opinion, has little to no chance of lasting,” Jacob, quite fairly, declared.

“Conor stood up when Shakira was choosing who she wanted to couple up with, which confirms where his head is at – and it isn’t with Helena! I can’t see much of an interest from Helena’s side either, so it’s only a matter of time before they both move on. I can definitely see Conor pulling Shakira for some chats too.”

Alima and Blu

via ITV

Blu has already said Alima isn’t his type, so you probably know where this is going. Jacob said: “Again, they don’t have a lot of potential as a couple to go far. They’re not compatible.

“They’ve both expressed that it wouldn’t go anywhere between them romantically, and you couldn’t sense much of a spark between them when they were first coupled up. Blu also stood up when Shakira was making her decision, so I wouldn’t be surprised if his head was swayed again.”

Megan and Tommy

Guys, we have some potential don’t worry! Whilst it’s looking like everyone else might fail, Jacob has positive thoughts towards Megan and Tommy.

“I love Megan and Tommy together. The strongest couple by far,” he told The Tab. “They really suit each other in terms of their levels of compatibility, attraction and personalities too. It’s clear they’re very attracted to each other after sharing the first kiss of the series. It looked engaged from both parties, no awkwardness between them.”

Let’s see how it all goes!
