MAFS Australia’s Jack reveals exact moment he and Tori realised they’re ‘just great friends’

Following the announcement he has split from MAFS bride Tori, Jack has opened up about the conversations they had when they realised they were better off as friends. The former couple had been together for 18 months, before they shared news of their breakup.

Speaking in his first interview since the split, Jack told The Tab he and Tori decided they were just friends. He said they continue to have a strong friendship now, and remain living together.

“We’re not people who want to settle. We got on so well during filming [for MAFS], but we didn’t fall in love. You don’t fall in love in three months. We’re looking for that, and we still want that for each other. We just realised it wasn’t to be. We were just really, really good friends,” he explained.

“Tori and I were intimate and things went really well. We created a life for ourselves together. But, we just never found that deep love connection that we’re both looking for.”

Jack went on to explain the couple had an “emotional conversation” in which they discussed if being in a romantic relationship was right for them. Ironically, they were watching the new season of MAFS when this happened. During the chat, they decided to end things as boyfriend and girlfriend.

“It was a really emotionally mature conversation,” he told The Tab. “We were watching MAFS one Sunday night and we just opened up the chat. We were having a chat about what we wanted in the coming years, where we’re at, how I show up for her and how Tori shows up for me.

“Tori and I agreed there were probably one or two things missing, and we had a chat about why we thought that was. At the end of the day we kept circling back to, ‘I think we’re just really bloody good friends’. We enjoy each other’s company, we support each other a lot. Like friends and family.”

Jack explained the chat had been “coming for a while” and said they’d had “similar chats” before, “just not to that extent.” He explained at aged 35 and 29 respectively, he and Tori “aren’t spring chickens”. Jack explained Tori wants a big family, and added: “She needs to be with that guy. She needs to be with him ASAP to have those kids I know she wants.”

During their chat, Jack and Tori decided things “weren’t going to progress further” between them, and ended things romantically. “We just randomly had this chat on a Sunday night watching MAFS,” Jack said. “We sat on the couch together for about an hour and decided we are better off just to call it, and move on as friends.

“That was a couple of months ago. It was the right decision. We’re both happy. We got over that week, it was a bit emotional, but now we’re getting on like a house on fire. Things are really good.”
