Black Mirror’s Hotel Reverie episode has had mixed reviews, but one thing’s for sure, it’s full of easter eggs.

The episode follows the story of an actress called Brandy who is asked to recreate an old vintage movie using a brand new technology.

Called Redream, it cleverly lets her go into the black and white movie and interact with the characters, and she ends up falling in love with one of them.

Whether you enjoyed the episode or not, here’s every single hidden reference in the episode. There’s a lot!

The posters in the Keyworth office

Right at the start, there are loads of posters on the wall in the Keyworth Pictures office and one of them says “The White Bear,” which is obviously a direct reference to the season two episode White Bear. Another one says “Buck Up Doctor” which relates to Black Museum and the third says “Haven Green,” which was the code name for the filming of Black Mirror season seven.

Dr Alex Palmer

Brandy plays a character called Dr Alex Palmer in Hotel Reverie and that links to Palmer County, the place Mike and Amanda go to in Common People when they visit the Juniper Lodge on their anniversary.

The Redream software company

Redream is made by a company called Tucker. That’s the same company in Bandersnatch, and it’s also the creator of the Nubbin device in USS Callister, so it appears many times throughout the series.

The newspaper headlines

When Dorothy starts seeing the news headlines about herself, it says she’s working on a new film called Saint Juniper, which is obviously a reference to the season three episode San Junipero.

Another San Junipero reference

Plus, at the end of the episode when Brandy gets delivered the box, the address reveals she lives on Junipero Drive, another direct San Junipero Easter Egg.

The three YouTube results

When Brandy is researching Dorothy on YouTube, the three results are all individual Easter Eggs. One of them says “Lacie’s Gone Loopy,” a reference to Lacie from Nosedive, and another says “Demon79” which is the name of a season six episode. The third one is “Space Fleet,” the show that the USS Callister game is based on.

Space Fleet is mentioned again

There’s actually another reference to USS Callister in Hotel Reverie as one of the Redream workers is wearing a t-shirt with the “Space Fleet” logo on it. He is holding a Bandersnatch book too, which is the same one Verity had on her shelf in Bête Noire. So many hidden details!

The company that’s there for a meeting

When Brandy’s agent’s assistant comes into the office, she says that “Streamberry” is there for a meeting. That’s the Netflix parody company that features in Joan Is Awful, and it’s mentioned in a few other episodes as well.

Poster in Brandy’s house

In Brandy’s house, there is a movie poster on the wall that says “Zodiac Suite,” but it’s actually the dates that are important. It says “May 13 – July 2” which is the exact same time period that Brandy was trapped inside the movie. Those same dates also appear in one of the newspaper articles that Dorothy reads too!
