They booked the helicopter ride for one of the kids’ birthdays
Two heartbreaking photos of the Spanish family that was killed in the Hudson River helicopter crash have emerged that show them moments before they took off.
Siemens executive Agustin Escobar, his wife Merce Camprubi Montal and their three kids, aged between four and 11, were all killed in the crash.
They had devastatingly hired a private helicopter ride to the Statue of Liberty to celebrate one of the childrens’ birthdays.
In one of the pictures which was posted on the tour company’s website, New York Helicopter Tours LLC, the family is posing next to the chopper before the flight.
They all have huge smiles on their faces while wrapped up in their woolly hats and coats, clearly very excited to see the magical city from above.

The chopper, which does tourist tours of New York every day, plummeted into the Hudson River at around 3:15 pm local time (8:15 pm BST) on Thursday (10th April).
All six people on board were sadly killed. Four victims were pronounced dead at the scene and two more were taken to hospital, where they were also pronounced dead.
The cause of the crash is still not known, but witnesses claim they saw the chopper break apart in mid-air before falling into the river.
A 28-year-old man, Bruce Wall, was nearby when the crash happened and witnessed the whole thing.
