The White Lotus creator reveals huge scene he cut from season three finale and it’s wild!

‘It was very disappointing to cut it’

So, Mike White, the genius behind The White Lotus, has just dropped a huge revelation. There was a huge scene cut in the season three finale that almost made it to air, and it’s wild!

If you watched The White Lotus season three finale and thought it was already packed with drama and shocking deaths, just wait. Mike White recently revealed on the official The White Lotus season three podcast that two characters who never met on the show were supposed to have a major scene together. And it involved sex. Yup!

So, what was supposed to happen?

Originally, Piper Ratliff (Sarah Catherine Hook) was supposed to lose her virginity to Zion Lindsey (Nicholas Duvernay). This moment followed Piper’s decision to skip the monastery sabbatical, which brought her family to Thailand. But here’s the thing – the scene never made it to the final cut.

So, why was the scene cut?

Because The White Lotus season three finale was already jam-packed with drama. White said on the podcast, “It was very disappointing to cut it, but we just had so much going on.” He went on to describe how Piper would have gone to a restaurant, seen Zion, and decided that, yes, it was time to get rid of that pesky virginity. According to White, the scene was meant to add a “romantic rom-com vibe” in the middle of all the chaos. You know, like a little break from nearly everyone being so close to death.

The scene was supposed to be a nod to all the very awkward and somewhat hilarious comments Piper’s brothers, Saxon (Patrick Schwarzenegger) and Lochlan (Sam Nivola), made earlier in the season about her sex life. But with a finale already full of plot twists (and, let’s be honest, a near family massacre), White decided to let this one slide.

In the end, White admitted that adding this scene would’ve been too much, considering how much else was already happening. But I can’t help but wonder – what could’ve been!
