The real Jacqui to producer plant: Eliot is dropping some seriously messy MAFS tea on Reddit

‘I definitely have no desire for a submissive woman’

MAFS Australia’s Eliot Donovan returned to the experiment with Veronica Cloherty this week after his first marriage to Lauren Hall utterly tanked. Though the footage suggests the blame was wholly on Eliot, which was then somewhat confirmed by his one-on-one with expert John Aiken, Eliot has since been sharing juicy tidbits of information through this TikTok and Instagram.

More recently, So Dramatic spotted Eliot interacting with viewers on Reddit under the same alias as his other social media profiles. Little bits of info like his DMs being “scary” and cast members talking about their businesses were included, but here are the juiciest bombshells from Eliot’s Reddit ask-me-anything.

Eliot

Eliot addressed the age controversy

A massive talking point during the first few episodes was the idea that Eliot only wanted to marry a 20-something-year-old. Naturally, this gave way to accusations of him wanting to manipulate younger women, something he responded to on Reddit.

“25-30 was what I said coming on the show because, yes, it puts less pressure on us to have a family so quickly. (And yes, the double standard of my age is not lost on me, but that’s biology),” he explained.

“Just to clarify, the age thing has nothing to do with manipulation or control. I don’t think younger women are inherently dumber, as Lauren suggested. And I definitely have no desire for a submissive woman or a ‘tradwife’!”

Despite the word “submissive” being thrown about, Eliot never actually said that on the show. Instead, he wanted someone who was family-oriented.

“I want to meet someone who is family-oriented and prioritises that over career. My last girlfriend is a doctor and the one before that a lawyer. I do not have anything against women having a career,” he added.

Eliot thinks Veronica was put in the experiment for his ‘villain edit’

The decision to bring Lauren and Eliot back to the experiment was a controversial one, largely because people wanted the same opportunity for Katie Johnston. Nonetheless, Eliot returned with actress Veronica, and people on Reddit asked if it was a deliberate choice by producers to paint him in a bad light.

“Rumour on the grapevine is, Veronica absolutely blew them away at the audition. She was smart, confident, articulate, attractive and perfect in every way to put me in my place. But now they look at her as the biggest disappointment in MAFS history,” he wrote, adding that he fully believes she was put there to enhance his “villain edit.”

He shared some insight into his breakup with Lauren

Eliot

Eliot claimed there were a few discrepancies in what we saw as viewers, namely his handbags and makeup putdown that was actually part of a larger conversation. He further alleged that the scene was “edited” to make him look bad when it was actually Lauren being a menace.

When someone asked what qualities turned him off Lauren, Eliot replied: “She was highly critical of the other brides, calling them drunk bogans who she would never associate with. The way she spoke of her ex Jono and the way all of her friends and family smeared him at the wedding. Her general superficiality, saying she doesn’t exercise and would rather just pay for surgery.”

As for the actual moment he knew there was never a future, Eliot said that came during the second day of the honeymoon when Lauren told him “she wasn’t interested in having a family and that she would never be into exercise because she’d rather just pay for the cosmetic surgery.”

Will the real Jacqui Burfoot please stand up

Despite Jacqui defending him in a recent TikTok, Eliot did not hold back while discussing her depiction on season 12 of Married at First Sight Australia. He outright said that her narrative on Instagram did not match up with the show, going as far as to say that her depiction was “accurate” and that “anyone in the cast except Clint will verify that.”

Spoilers! Eliot shared interactions with Veronica and they’re fiery

Look away now if you don’t want things spoiled.

Later in the season, Eliot and Veronica’s relationship goes down the toilet, and the two come to verbal blows on more than one occasion. In one particularly spicy moment, Eliot says, “And the Oscar goes to”, but he’s now revealed how another scene was cut out completely.

“When she was standing pointing her finger at me, I asked her to sit down and have a calm conversation. She looked at me and said, ‘You’re not calm, you’re ugly’ and then stormed out of the room and screamed ‘C**t’ as she slammed the door,” he wrote.

More reality TV stars should do this, it’s messy as hell.
